The 2nd annual Izzy’s Walk was sponsored by the Fayetteville Junior Woman’s Club last month. A special fundraising walk and 5K run were held in memory of Izzy McManaway, the 4-year-old who invited the world to “Keep smiling.” McManaway died in February 2012 following a lengthy battle with rhabdomyosarcoma, a muscle cancer. During her treatment at WVU Children’s Hospitals to fight the disease, the McManaway family received support from Timmy’s Fund. To learn more about Timmy’s Fund, created in memory of Timmy Quigley, a young Fairmont child who died in 2004 after battling medullablastoma, an aggressive malignant childhood brain tumor, visit www.timmysfund.org. You may also write to Timmy’s Fund, PO Box 5088, Fairmont, WV 26555, or call 304-694-0497. Proceeds from Izzy’s Walk have been given to the family of Logan Harper from Ansted who also receives support from Timmy’s Fund. Logan has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. In spite of the rain, the day was capped off with a balloon release in memory of loved ones.
