Wetlands lecture
Bill Hilton Jr., consulting director of the New River Birding and Nature Center, presented a program on wetlands ecology to students at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Jan. 22 as part of the Nature Center commitment to provide school and community-based programming. Hilton, named one of the “50 Best Brains in Science” by Discover Magazine, spent more than 20 years as a high school and college biology professor before becoming a full-time naturalist. He and the Nature Center have a very broad-based environmental curriculum and will be available for presentations each month through 2010, including the opportunities for field trips once winter weather gives way to spring. His next available date is Feb. 25 and schools and teachers are asked to contact Dave Pollard at 304-574-4258 or goshawk@birding-wv.com to schedule a presentation or to learn more about the programs.
