Fayetteville sets public hearing

From Staff Reports

FAYETTEVILLE — A public hearing has been established to discuss the pending sale of the town’s water and sewer systems to West Virginia American Water Company.

At a May 5 meeting, town council held the first reading and approval of an ordinance authorizing the sale.

The public hearing is set for 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 22 at the American Legion Hall. A special election on the matter is planned for Aug. 9, according to a legal advertisement.

A copy of the ordinance is on file at town hall for perusal during regular business hours.

The town is currently buying its water from WVAWC under an emergency agreement entered by the state Public Service Commission in January.
