Car, truck show set for Oktoberfest

When the 6th annual Oktoberfest is held in Montgomery on Saturday, Sept. 7, look for the Classic Car and Truck Show, sponsored by Brown Chevrolet and Burgess Real Estate. This event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Third Avenue, in front of the UKV Economic Development Corporation’s building.

Trophies will be presented to the Top 50 Vehicles, plus six specialty trophies for the Best Chevy, Best Ford, Best Mopar, Best Truck, Best Import, and Best of Show. Dee-jay Dickie Dickinson will provide the entertainment, hot dogs and drinks will be available, and door prizes will be awarded throughout the show.

Helping with the event once again will be the New River Cruisers, who have been holding area car shows for at least the last nine years. The club is a sponsor of Hospice of Southern West Virginia and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the participants’ $15 entry fees are used for these charities. Each year the goal is to donate at least $1,000 each to Hospice and St. Jude.

Other events during Oktoberfest include live entertainment all day, artisans and crafts, beer garden, food and drink vendors, children’s activities, community yard sale, mega pro wrestling, and a 5K race.

There will also be a street dance hosted by the City of Montgomery on Friday, Sept. 6, from 7 to 10 p.m., featuring dee-jay Lu Shepherd.
