OAK HILL — Pastors, social workers, nurses, health care providers and those who work with or want to help the uninsured are invited to free training in Oak Hill next week.

Participants will learn how to identify and enroll eligible state residents in the Expanded Medicaid program under the new Affordable Care Act.

In collaboration with West Virginians for Affordable Health Care, Southern Appalachian Labor School (SALS) will host the four-hour training workshop Aug. 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The training is free and food will be available.

The workshop will be held at the SALS Historic Oak Hill School, 140 School St.

Register online at or at 8:30 a.m. on the day of the event.

SALS is seeking to ensure that everyone eligible in the area is enrolled for the new health insurance coverage, which will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2014.
