Community calendar — Monday, Jan. 7, 2013

Meetings

Green Team — The Fayette County Green Team will meet Monday, Jan. 7 at 6 p.m. in the Fayetteville Presbyterian Church (between Pies and Pints and Fayetteville High School).

Baptist Men’s Association — The Fayette Baptist Men’s Association will meet at Calvary Baptist Church in Oak Hill on Jan. 10 at 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be served and a $5 donation for the meal is asked to defray  the meal expense.

City of Oak Hill Structural Inspection Board — The City of Oak Hill’s Structural Inspection Board will meet Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting agenda is as follows: new business — John M. Zink Jr. property, located on the NW corner of School Street and Central Avenue. The building is situated on lots #17 and 18 in map book 2, at page 140.

Fayette County Commission — The Fayette County Commission will meet Friday Jan. 18 (regular session),  at 9 a.m. in the Fayette County Commission chambers of the Fayette County Courthouse. The meetings are open to the public.

Board of Education — The Fayette County Board of Education will meet as follows: Tuesday, Jan. 8 — regular meeting, BOE office, Fayetteville, 6 p.m.; and Tuesday, Jan. 22 — BOE office, Fayetteville, 6 p.m.

SCD Board — The Southern Conservation District board will hold its monthly board meeting on Jan. 10 at the SCD Building, 463 Ragland Road, Beckley, at 9:45 a.m. Normal business will be conducted. The agenda will be posted at the SCD office. For more, please call 304-253-0261.

Announcements

Early Voting — Early voting begins on Jan. 26 for the school bond levy and ends on Feb. 6. Voting locations include the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building in Fayetteville, Montgomery City Hall and Danese Community Center.

Plateau Amateur Radio Hamfest — The Plateau Amateur Radio Hamfest is set for Feb.16 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lewis Community Foundation’s Christian Community Center, 469 Central Avenue, Oak Hill. Dessert Recipes Sought — Recipe submission and sponsorship commitment deadline for “The Family Table Vol. II - Just Desserts” cookbook has been extended until Jan. 7 to give interested persons and businesses the opportunity to still be involved. Since the last two weeks of December are filled with family festivities, last minute shopping, travel and more, Women's Resource Center wanted to make sure that everyone who had been too busy amidst the holiday hustle and bustle, still had the chance to submit their favorite recipe(s) or to be a project sponsor.
