FAYETTEVILLE —
Fayette County Sheriff’s Department conducted an underage alcohol sales sting on Jan. 11 which yielded seven violations.
Sheriff’s deputies and an agent with the state Alcohol Beverage Commission conducted a series of underage alcohol purchases from 32 alcohol retail locations across Fayette.
Locations that sold alcohol to minors were the Ansted Shell store, Dorsey’s Hogtails in Hico, the Hico location of New River Foodland, the Hico location of Sherry’s, Drifter’s Bar in Glen Jean, the Cold Spot in Glen Jean, and Sam’s Place in Mount Hope.
The clerks of each of the violating stores were cited.
“Selling alcohol to underage minors is entirely unacceptable, and we are always pleased to work with the West Virginia ABC in efforts to deter this illegal activity,” said Sheriff Steve Kessler.
These violations remain under investigation by Sgt. T.N. Mooney and Deputy W.R. Callison of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and agent Fred Wooten of the West Virginia ABC.
