Fayetteville Youth Inspire recognition and thanksgiving extended

The churches of the Fayetteville Ministerial Association held a youth festival on Sunday evening, the 29th of September. Praise be to our God and King. This is a time to celebrate the youth, their value, and importance to all of our communities.

God blessed with excellent weather and with a great turn out. The evening consisted of a petting zoo, dunking booth, pony rides, two jumpy inflatables, digging for gold, organized games, and free fun for the whole family. We had free food, which consisted of 600 hot dogs, chips, cookies, snack candy, and over 1000 bottles of water. We wanted to give everything a free venue. The Gideons came and gave out over 340 free Bibles to the participants.

The night program began at 7 p.m. with give aways or door prizes. We gave away 30 food coupons for free Domino’s pizza and free hot dog dinners from the Custard Stand. We also gave 30 back packs with supplies and 10 more gifts. Finally the grand prize give away was an Xbox 360. A young man by the name of Thad Brown won the drawing for the game player. Over 350 coupon tickets for the drawing were given out just to the youth so there must have been around 600 or so there for the evening’s activities.

We heard two stirring testimonies from Chris Wilson, and Jesse McKee, along with a closing thought by Pastor Robert Morey. The band for the night’s music was a group called FOG. FOG is “Friends of God” or “Four Old Guys.” They had some great music.

Special thanks to all who came and participated. We all had a great time in a great family atmosphere. Special thanks to the Fayetteville Fire Department for doing our fireworks. Also, thanks to Joe Crist and Mike Bates who made it possible and legal to set off our fireworks.  Special thanks to the town of Fayetteville council, Mayor Jim Akers, and town manager, Bill Lanham, for allowing us to hold the festival at the park. Thanks to all who helped in any way.

Special thanks to the Christians in Fayetteville, who choose to work together to bring God the glory. All of our local area churches and pastors are invited to participate in the Fayetteville Ministerial Association. We meet every second Thursday at the Baptist church in Fayetteville for lunch at 12 noon and lunch is provided.

We look forward to next year’s Fayetteville Youth Inspire event.
