Taylor Made cops national music award

BECKLEY — The musical sibling trio Taylor Made was recently named “New Country Group of the Year” by New Music Weekly Magazine.

Taylor Made topped the NMW charts at No. 5 with their single “Good Love” and fans showed their support by selecting them as New Country Group of the Year in an online voting contest.

Band member Greg Duckworth says this will be Little General Records and Taylor Made’s first national award.

“We did a show during the CMA Music Festival down in Nashville, and they stopped the show and surprised us with the award.”

He says their newest single, “Some Things You Don’t Grow Out Of,” has been out for three weeks and is already climbing the charts.

On MusicRow, it moved up six places on the chart to No. 60 this week and is also No. 60 on Billboard.

“It’s got a lot of momentum and is doing really well.”

Duckworth says they’re hoping to achieve a top-20 hit soon.

As for touring, “We’re getting ready to kick it in high gear.”

Duckworth says the band writes and records through the winter months; then from Memorial Day to Labor Day they fill their schedule with concerts and tour dates.

“We’ve got four radio tours planned this summer. We’re doing a New England tour, a Georgia/Florida tour, an Iowa tour and lots of radio stations are wanting us to come out and meet them, so we’re going to get that set up this summer.”

As for local shows, Taylor Made will perform Saturday, June 30 at the New River Gorge Heritage Festival in Fayetteville.
