For several years on the second Thursday of each month the Fayetteville United Methodist Church has sponsored a free “chili feed.”
On Thursday, July 12, organizers invited the National Guard, electrical workers and tree removal specialists as a “thank you” for all their hard work following the recent storms.
As the special guests arrived, each received thunderous applause and was escorted to the front of the buffet line.
Nearly 100 people enjoyed a sumptuous dinner that included venison stew, pork BBQ, corn bread and beans, Cathedral Cafe’s white bean chicken chili, assorted salads, unique casseroles and more than 20 desserts.
Everyone left feeling full and happy and many folks took home to-go containers to supplement their slowly refilling refrigerators.
Next month the dinner takes place on Aug. 9; the menu changes each month but it is always delicious.
