A Pittsburgh man was sentenced Wednesday to eight years in federal prison for conspiracy to commit robbery of a Fayette County pharmacy, according to U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin.
Kevin Ian Davis, 31, previously pleaded guilty in August. He admitted that on June 19, 2008, he intended to rob the New River Family Health Center Pharmacy of prescription pills containing oxycodone and morphine.
Davis also admitted that he used a handgun to complete the pharmacy robbery.
His co-conspirator, Christina Foster, 34, of Montgomery, was sentenced in November to two years in federal prison for her role in the incident.
Foster previously pleaded guilty in August to conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States. She admitted that she drove Davis to the New River Family Health Center Pharmacy on June 19, 2008, and then drove him away from the location after the robbery.
According to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the replacement cost of the prescription drugs stolen from the pharmacy is $2,412 worth of oxycodone pills and $629 worth of morphine pills.
The court ordered both defendants to make restitution to the pharmacy.
The West Virginia State Police conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney John File handled the prosecution and the sentence was imposed by U.S. District Judge Thomas E. Johnston.
This case was prosecuted as a part of an ongoing effort led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia to combat the illicit sale and misuse of prescription drugs. The U.S. Attorney’s Office, joined by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, is committed to aggressively pursuing and shutting down illegal pill trafficking, eliminating open air drug markets, and curtailing the spread of opiate painkillers in communities across the Southern District.
