HFT to celebrate 20th anniversary

Historic Fayette Theater is celebrating its 20th anniversary this month and will host its birthday celebration July 6 at 8 p.m.

The Party in the Park features the Jon Kemper and The Ain’t Dead Yet Band, “sweet treats” for attendees and special acknowledgments of those who were an integral part of the HFT from its beginning.

Admission is $10 per person and tickets can be purchased at the theater Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. or by calling 304-574-4655 or online with a credit card at

Historic Fayette Theater for the last 20 years has worked to bring quality plays and music to the area, as well as serving as a venue for local organizations. The theater was originally started by the Fayette County Historical Society and opened June 20, 1993. For its opening, Charlie McCoy and Jon Kemper performed.

In 2011, the Theater building was purchased with the help of many contributors and it became its own independent, non-profit corporation.

This year also marks the 75th anniversary of the reopening of the theater building by Grant Thomas.

HFT is located at 115 S. Court St., Fayetteville, and more information can be found at
