Blue skies and warming temps

— Although ice is prevalent nearly everywhere in the area after the series of cold snaps experienced this winter, a blue sky was captured over Gauley Bridge earlier this week and the National Weather Service forecasts much warmer temperatures with Saturday to see readings in the 50s. Here, the partially frozen Gauley River surrounds a remaining pier from the Civil War-era bridge that was burned in one of skirmishes between Union and Confederate forces at the meeting place of the Gauley and New rivers.
