The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office has hired two new deputies with a lot in common, literally, says Sheriff Steve Kessler.
Kessler said twin brothers, Ethan and Aaron Shrewsbury, have been hired.
The 21-year-old brothers are 2010 graduates of Midland Trail High School and are active members of the United States Army National Guard, assigned to the 863rd Military Police Company at the Glen Jean Armory.
Before joining the law enforcement team, Kessler said both were employed by Jan-Care Ambulance Service and were being trained as EMTs.
“We have had family members employed at the same time with the sheriff’s office before — even a pair of brothers at one time — but this is the first time, to my knowledge, that we have hired identical twin brothers,” said Kessler.
With this latest hire, Kessler said the office is at its full authorized strength for the first time in a decade.
“Once all our probationary deputy sheriffs have completed training, we will be able to fully staff our detachments in the rural areas of the county, as well as provide additional patrol coverage out of our main detachment office in Fayetteville,” he said.
