The Southern Appalachian Labor School (SALS) is completing its second housing subdivision in Fayette County. The latest development will include several new homes in Oak Hill and consists of two- and three-bedroom homes.
According to Debra Spurlock, who directs housing counseling and marketing, the homes will be Energy Star-compliant and HERS rated. They will come with heat pump, air conditioning and all major appliances, including washer and dryer. All homes will be on public water and sewer.
Spurlock noted purchasing one of these homes through SALS may qualify the family for a $15,000 reduction in price through a special Federal Home Loan Bank Grant. Financing as low as 1 percent is available with USDA, the West Virginia Housing Development Fund and the Federation of Appalachian Housing Enterprises if you meet eligibility requirements.
An eight-hour course in home buyers education is required to complete the loan process. The Southern Appalachian Labor School can advise on the details.
SALS is actively seeking qualified applicants interested in purchasing one of these homes.
Interested people should contact SALS, P.O. Box 127, Kincaid, WV 25119, leave a message at 304-465-9732 or e-mail SALS@citynet. net. They should provide a mailing address and contact information. A pre-application will be sent.
Income restrictions do apply to these homes, which are available to all persons without regard to race, religion, age, sex, national origin, family status or handicap.
