SALS awarded housing grant

— The Southern Appalachian Labor School has received a $1,400 grant from Pyles and Turner Foundation, established by the law firm of Pyles and Turner.

The law firm, co-founded by Grant Crandall, who is now general counsel for the UMWA, and Brad Pyles has a long history of supporting local issues and concerns in the coalfields. Current partners now include William Turner and Brad Pyles.

The grant will assist SALS in the rehabilitation of several owner-occupied coal camp houses.
