Jubilee kicks off Friday

— The 23rd annual Mount Hope Jubilee will kick off Friday night with a reception for Mount Hope High School alumni and continue through the weekend.

The Mount Hope Alumni Association reception, sponsored by the Mount Hope Alumni Association and the Mount Hope Jubilee Committee, will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. at Municipal Stadium, weather permitting. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the Mount Hope Community Building, the former YMCA.

Free hot dogs, snacks and drinks will be available, and a dee-jay will play music throughout the night. For more, contact Patty Logan at 304-673-3984 or Brenda Troitino at 304-575-3077.

Activities on Saturday will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The parade starts at 10 a.m. and there will be live music all day, featuring Billy Payne, Ann Sumpter Band, Karen James, Alan Kinsler and Hit and Run.

Other events include the Tom Stafford Memorial Car Show/Cruise In; Money Machine; arts and crafts; food vendors; a water slide; museum exhibits and memorabilia displays; and fun for all.

On Sunday, the Mount Hope High School Hall of Fame dinner is set for 1 p.m. at the Mount Hope Lions Club. For reservations, call 304-256-8688.

Mount Hope Alumni Association reception, sponsored by the Mount Hope Alumni Association and the Mount Hope Jubilee Committee, to be held at the old Municipal Stadium, weather permitting, or in case of rain, at the Mount Hope Community Building (the old YMCA), 6 to 10 p.m.



Saturday, Sept. 21

Billy Payne — 9 to 10 a.m.

Jubilee parade — 10 a.m.

Tom Stafford Memorial Car Show — 11 a.m. (all day)

Ann Sumpter Band — 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Karen James (gospel music) — 12 to 12:30 p.m.

Alan Kinsler — 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Hit & Run Band — 2 to 4 p.m.

WQAZ broadcasting all day from Aide’s parking lot

Mount Hope Alumni Association — in front of old YMCA all day (alumni ware, membership )

Money Machine — across from clock (sponsored by City National Bank); chance to win money at 12 p.m.
