Meadow Bridge man arrested for allegedly firing gun

MEADOW BRIDGE — A Meadow Bridge man was taken to Southern Regional Jail after allegedly firing a gun outside and pointing the gun at his wife following an argument with his stepdaughter Sunday night.

Gregory Kent Rhodes, 58, was charged with domestic battery, discharge of a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling and brandishing a weapon.

According to Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy R.G. Gipson, Rhodes’ stepdaughter called police around 8:30 p.m. after she’d had an argument with her stepfather.

According to court documents, the stepdaughter told police that Rhodes had pushed her twice during the argument. She went outside to get away from Rhodes, she said, and then she heard a gunshot from the other side of the house.

At that point, she called police, Gipson reported.

Rhodes’ wife reported that her daughter had left the house to get away from Rhodes during the argument and that Rhodes had gotten a handgun, gone outside and shot it once.

He then came back inside the house and pointed the gun at his wife, according to the complaint.

When the wife told Rhodes she was going to call police, he “said go ahead” and then exited the room, Gipson reported.
