NRCVB publishes new brochures

OAK HILL — The New River CVB recently published a couple of new brochures that detail activities and amenities offered by local municipalities.

The brochures are geared toward Ansted and Oak Hill, the first brochures provided by the CVB for those two municipalities since 2006, says executive director Sharon Cruikshank. They are paid for by lodging taxes.

Cruikshank feels the brochures offer the public — especially given the increased cost of traveling this summer — many opportunities to relax locally in the coming months. It also gives tourists an idea about what is available as they pass through the area.

The Ansted brochure describes the town’s location along the historic Midland Trail. Home of Hawks Nest State Park, Ansted is also rich in coal mining heritage.

“Whether you walk the rail trail or visit the museum, you will truly enjoy the hospitality that abounds in Ansted,” the brochure reads.

“The citizens of Oak Hill take great pride in their city and participate in the many activities which take place throughout the year,” the Oak Hill brochure says.

Included among those are the Oak Leaf Festival, the Little Red Wagon Christmas Parade, Depot Days and the Fireman’s Rodeo.

The brochure also details numerous dining and lodging opportunities.

The CVB also recently published a larger brochure detailing the New River Gorge area.
