Bridge Day organizers once again have teamed up with Vertical Visions and Subaru to offer one lucky winner the chance to tandem BASE jump from the New River Gorge Bridge on Bridge Day (Saturday, Oct. 20) while helping their favorite charity with a check for $1000.
Have you ever thought how exciting it would be to BASE jump off the bridge? Well, with a video camera and some creativity, that daydream could be a reality on Bridge Day 2012.
In addition to the tandem BASE jump, Subaru will donate $1,000 to the charity of the winner’s choice. Bridge Day fans will choose the contest winner.
The rules of this contest are simple: If you want to enter, create a video showing the world why you should be the one chosen to jump. Be as creative as you can, but please keep your video under 3 minutes in length. Make sure you mention your charity in the video and why you’re willing to jump off the New River Gorge Bridge to support it.
The tandem BASE jump contest video entry can be made beginning Friday, Aug. 31. All entries must be uploaded to the Bridge Day Facebook page by midnight on Friday, Sept. 7. Voting begins Saturday, Sept. 8 and will be open until Friday, Sept. 14 at midnight. The video with the most votes wins. All videos submitted become property of Bridge Day.
Contestants must be at least 18 years old, must weigh 200 pounds or less and be capable of an active lifestyle. Those restrictions are in place purely for safety.
The winning jumper also must wear athletic shoes or hiking boots on the day of the jump, and must sign a waiver of liability.
