Donation by Brookfield will aid local residents with utility bills

The Brookfield U.S. Foundation has made a $5,000 contribution to the Montgomery office of EnAct. The Brookfield grant specifically offers individuals in the EnAct service area assistance with paying utility bills.

Besides providing employment programs, EnAct assists with education funding, childcare, transportation, emergency support for utility assistance, and any other conditions that would destabilize the families of participants.

Through its Comforts of Home program, EnAct provides a long-term care alternative, which provides services that enable eligible senior citizens to stay in their homes instead of entering nursing homes, usually at a much higher cost to the state.

Comforts of Home employs a registered nurse and a licensed social worker to assist eligible persons in obtaining and maintaining in-home care services through the program.

The Brookfield U.S. Foundation is a nonprofit established in 2010 to support charitable programs and organizations in communities where Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners operates. Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners operates the Glen Ferris hydropower plant on the Kanawha River in Glen Ferris and the Hawks Nest hydropower plant on the New River at Gauley Bridge.

For more information on EnAct programs, visit EnAct’s website or call at 304-414-4475.
