Lights Along the Midland Trail shining until New Year

ANSTED — For years, the Lights Along the Midland Trail display has made things merry and bright at Hawks Nest State Park. Located on Route 60 at Ansted, more than 30 unique holiday displays are currently located on the state park ground.

Visitors can drive slowly around the state park property and view the displays. There is no entrance fee. Lights Along the Midland Trail are on from 5:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. each evening through Jan. 1, 2014.

Hawks Nest Lodge is open year-round with a fireplace in the lodge lobby. Winter rates are in effect at the lodge. The park restaurant is open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. daily.

Hawks Nest also features a New Year’s Eve Escape package Dec. 31 that includes one night’s lodging for two in any available room or suite, full course dinner, an express breakfast for two, a 20 percent discount coupon for the lodge gift shop and a Hawks Nest State Park memento. The state park also has a January winter lodge promotion, “WV50.”
