— Drug agents arrested two brothers on felony drug charges in Fayette County last week.

David Alan Thompson, 55, of Minden, and Ronald Eugene Thompson, 53, of Scarbro, were both arrested Tuesday on one charge each of possession of crack cocaine with intent to deliver and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to Fayette Sheriff Steve Kessler, officers from the Central West Virginia Drug Task Force, assisted by the Special Response Team for the Fayette Sheriff’s Department and the West Virginia State Police, along with uniformed troopers and deputies, executed warrants on each brother simultaneously.

“Over the past several months, we have received numerous tips from the public that these two individuals have been engaged in the sale and distribution of crack cocaine,” said Kessler.

At David Thompson’s home in Minden, they seized “an extremely large quantity of crack cocaine,” a large sum of money and recovered a handgun that had previously been reported as stolen.

He had previously been convicted of felony drug violations.

At the Scarbro residence of Ronald Thompson, who had a past conviction of malicious wounding, they discovered a small quantity of crack cocaine, a small amount of money and two firearms.

Both brothers were arraigned in Fayette Magistrate Court last Tuesday morning, with their bonds set at $35,000 each.

“We were able to take a substantial amount of crack cocaine, as well as two dangerous drug dealers, off of the street with these two arrests,” Kessler said. “We follow up on every tip that is received from the public concerning drug-related activity.”

The case remains under investigation, and Kessler urged anyone with information on this or another drug case to contact his office at 304-574-4216, Crime Stoppers at 304-255-7867 or to visit the Crime Tips section of the  Sheriff’s Department Web site http://www.fayettesheriffwv.net or on Facebook at “Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.”
