Boy Scouts to host meeting tonight

With the 2013 National Scout Jamboree at The Summit just around the corner, the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) will host an informational meeting for the community to learn about the event and what it will mean for the area.

Whether you’re wondering how the Jamboree will affect your morning commute, or just plain curious about the event, you can get your questions answered on Thursday.

A community-wide meeting will be held that evening at 6 p.m. in the Mount Hope High School gymnasium.

Representatives from The Summit, West Virginia State Police, National Guard and Division of Highways, along with the National Park Service and Citizen’s Conservation Corps, will be on hand to brief the public on preparations for the Jamboree and answer questions.

A previous community meeting held on June 13 covered issues like traffic, security, scheduling, visitor ticketing, and other topics.

The Boy Scouts of America also has an office at the Crossroads Mall in Beckley where the public can get additional information about The Summit and the Jamboree.

Tickets for the Jamboree are now on sale at visitjambo.org, where additional visitor information is available.
