Mount Hope matriarch honored by her family

Five generations of love gathered recently, giving God all the praise and glory for what He has done. Psalm 34:8: “O taste and see that the Lord is good.” And the Gray family can see that He is good and has been good to us all. Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Mrs. Catherine Gray, at the age of 93 years old, is the anchor of the five generations of love.

She is the mother of Thelma Patterson of Mt. Hope; grandmother of Patricia Hicks, Velma Allen and Darlene Brown, all of Mt. Hope; great-grandmother of Tonya Hannah of Walkertown, N.C., Charlene Brown of Mt. Hope and Patrice Hicks of Beckley; and great-great-grandmother of Sharyah Brown of Mt. Hope, Alizae Francis of Beckley and Brooklyn Hannah of Walkertown, N.C., at the age of one month old is the youngest of the five generations.

“Ain’t God good” is the family’s motto.
