Guilty plea entered in drug trafficking trial

FAYETTEVILLE — One of three Florida men charged with trafficking oxycodone in Fayette County has pleaded guilty to two felonies.

In Fayette County Circuit Court last Monday, Orlando Assim Torres Galan, 26, of Sunny Isles, Fla., admitted to delivering oxycodone and possessing oxycodone with the intent to deliver.

Both crimes carry a sentence of one to 15 years in the state penitentiary, a fine of up to $25,000, or both.

The other two charges — transporting narcotics across state lines and conspiracy to commit a felony — were dismissed in the deal.

Two co-defendants, Dale Evans William Brown of Sebring, Fla., and William Monroe Massey of Summersville, have pleaded not guilty to similar charges.

Another — Roderick L. Nash of Winter Park, Fla. — is scheduled for an arraignment hearing Feb. 22.

The four men were arrested July 18, 2012 in the parking lot of Fayetteville’s Walmart.

Police say they made two drug deals there that were prearranged by a confidential informant by cell phone.

Police seized approximately $28,074 and 400 pills from a car.

During the investigation, police say they discovered that the drugs had been transported from Florida.
