Water Stone Outdoors in Fayetteville decorated one of its windows following the announcement in November that Fayette County will become the permanent home for the National Scout Jamboree and “The Summit: Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve” will be constructed on land previously chosen for one of the Boy Scouts’ four high adventure bases. Area businesses and merchants are invited to do the same to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouting the week of Feb. 7 through Feb. 13. The theme of the program is “This is Scouting Country.” The public is encouraged to visit these businesses and cast their votes for the best display. Votes cost $1 (a penny for each year of Scouting in America) and voters’ names will be placed in a drawing for prizes. Money raised through votes will be donated to Seneca District, the local Scout district serving Raleigh, Fayette, Summers and Wyoming counties.
