Ammo reload class offered in Summersville

— SUMMERSVILLE — New River Community and Technical College will offer a comprehensive ammunition reloading course at the Workforce West Virginia building in the Northside Shopping Center in Summersville this spring. The class will be held on Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. from April 18 through May 16.

Instructor Kenneth Hayes has been reloading his own ammunition for more than 25 years and has taught this skill to many friends and family members.

There are many benefits of reloading your own ammunition, with one of the biggest being cost savings. Reloading your own ammunition costs 33-50 percent less than purchasing ammunition. Many people feel that there is improved accuracy as well. Customization for various desired outcomes is also a factor.

Students will learn how to safely follow accepted hand loader guidelines, learn the nomenclature of the procedure and identify the various components of hand loading. They will have a hands-on learning experience with quality supervision. Students will also learn about various suppliers who carry the necessary materials.

This class will mostly focus on center fire rifle and pistol cartridges. By the end of class, students will be able to reload their own cartridges.

Tuition for this class is $75, and a supply fee will also apply. The fee will vary depending on the caliber and load, but will not exceed $50.
