Early childhood conference April 5

— The 18th annual Greenbrier Early Childhood Conference, “Frontline Advocate Safe and Sound,” will be held April 5, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Fairlea. The conference is being sponsored by the Greenbrier Early Childhood Committee, MountainHeart Child Care Resource and Referral, Greenbrier Valley Medical Center and the Children’s Home Society.

The guest speaker for the conference will be Jim Holler, a retired chief of police of Liberty Township, Pa. Holler is a nationally-known speaker for safety in a workplace and beyond. He is also a consultant for the Pennsylvania Child Welfare Training Program.

This conference will give everyone an opportunity to learn how to be safe when dealing with the public. Diffusing a potentially dangerous situation, learning the issues with social networking and the importance of dealing with stress will be some of the topics.

The conference will provide 5 hours of STARS approved credit for child care providers, as well as CEUs for social work and nursing.
