— The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the West Virginia State Police arrested a New York man near Glen Jean Tuesday on drug charges, confirmed Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler.

Reginald Louis Thomas, 38, of Elmsford, N.Y., was charged with felony offenses of delivery of a controlled substance, conspiracy to commit a felony and transporting controlled substances into the state, said police.

Kessler said the Central West Virginia Drug Task Force, the sheriff’s office and State Police executed a search warrant at a home in the Harvey area near Glen Jean and seized $300 of heroin and more than $5,000 in cash.

Thomas was arrested in connection to this search.

He was arraigned in magistrate court Wednesday morning and is being held in Southern Regional Jail on $140,000 bond, police said.

“Drugs are a major problem in our communities,” said Kessler. “If you suspect someone of engaging in drug trafficking, please let us know so that we can focus our investigative efforts towards catching these criminals.”
