Colorado woman charged with abduction; missing child found

A Colorado woman was taken into custody in Virginia Beach, Va., Wednesday after abducting her 4-year-old daughter from an Oak Hill home last week. The child was recovered safely, said the Fayette County Sheriffs Department.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, Jessica Lynn Miller, 25, of Colorado Springs, Colo., had taken the girl on Tuesday from the Sunday Road area. Authorities were alerted to the child’s disappearance by the custodial father.

Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler said earlier Wednesday that police believed Miller was possibly traveling to the Virginia Beach area or Colorado Springs with the child.

“The mother of this child may be associating with drug abusers, and this child may be in danger if she is not quickly located and returned to the lawful custody of her father,” Kessler said at that time.

A felony charge of concealment or removal of a minor child in violation of a court order was filed in Fayette County against Miller on Wednesday.
