Glenville State College Assistant Professor of Special Education Tara Cosco has published her first book titled “Follow Your Dream: Become a Teacher.” Cosco wrote the book in hopes of preparing her Foundations of Education class students for the real world of teaching. She gives pointers and tips along with personal experiences to give her students a better understanding of teaching beyond the required textbook.
“This book allows me to expand my class time and personally reach each of my students and other future educators. I hope that through my mistakes and accomplishments, I can prepare my readers to enter the teaching field prepared to make a difference in the lives of their own students and community,” said Cosco.
“I am proud of Tara’s hard work and dedication to the students of GSC. I am amazed she was able to write such a quality book while working on her doctorate,” said GSC Dean of Teacher Education Dr. Kevin Cain.
“If you can inspire students to love learning, you have truly succeeded as an educator. One of my brightest moments was raising a student’s reading level from second grade to fifth grade in six months’ time. This book is an effort to teach my students to become lifelong learners,” added Cosco.
Cosco received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Fairmont State University, Master’s degree in Special Education from West Virginia University, and is currently working on a Doctoral degree in Technology and E-Learning from Northcentral University. She has 12 years of teaching experience and has been at GSC for four years. Cosco is the advisor for Kappa Delta Pi, the international education honor society. She is a native of Shinnston and currently resides in Glenville.
