He loves me, he loves me not...

— Most every young person at one time or another has picked an oxeye daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare) to play the classic game of French origin in which a person seeks to determine if the object of her affection returns that affection. According to, “The phrase they speak on picking off the last petal supposedly represents the truth between the object of their affection loving them or not ... A humorous twist on the game is ‘She loves me, she loves me lots.’” Oxeye daisies bloom from late spring until autumn, which officially arrived on Sunday.
