Auditions for children’s show set this weekend

FAYETTEVILLE — Auditions for the Historic Fayette Theater’s annual spring children’s production are set this weekend.

The 2014 spring musical produced by Millie Petersen is “The Rockin’ Tale of Snow White.” Performance dates are March 21-22, March 28-29 and April 4-5, with matinees on March 23 and 30 and April 6.

Separate auditions will be held at the theater for those of different age groups. Children from fourth through eighth grade who wish to audition may do so on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the theater on Court Street in Fayetteville.

Auditions for high school age students and adults will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11:30 a.m. and on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m.

Approximately 30 roles are available, and all actors much be capable and willing to sing and dance.

Of the play with book by Barbara Lennon, music by Bill Francoeur and lyrics by Francoeur and Lennon, the press release states: “The tale of Snow White has never felt so fresh and new with this funny adaptation that will make even the most jaded among us laugh out loud. New characters and comedic twists come to life as a modern mom reads the Brothers Grimm tale to her restless children.

“In addition to the well-known cast of the kind princess, evil queen, multiple dwarves and the morally conflicted Huntsman, this music introduces us to the some new faces such as the rhyme-happy ladies-in-waiting and a stick-in-the-mud governmental representative out to ruin everyone’s good time...”

Music in the production ranges from a mixture of hip-hop, rock and roll, doo wop and more.
