Early morning fire leaves Mount Hope home a total loss

Bradley-Prosperity, Pax and Mount Hope fire departments responded to a fire on Lansing Street in Mount Hope early Wednesday morning.

Bradley-Prosperity’s Public Relations Officer Bobby Palmer said the fire occurred shortly after 2 a.m. on Lansing Street, just off Maple Fork Road.

When firefighters responded to the scene, flames were already visible through the mobile home’s windows.

The fire was under control in around 30 minutes; however, the home was a total loss, he said.

One Bradley-Prosperity firefighter was treated at the scene for a heat injury but was not transported to the hospital.

Palmer said no other structures were damaged in the fire and the scene was cleared just after 6 a.m.

The West Virginia Fire Marshall has been called to investigate the fire at the homeowner’s request, he said.
