On March 25, Gumbo’s is donating 50 percent of the sales for its vegetarian red beans and rice dish. But feel free to order anything at any time on this special day, because a percentage of sales for the entire day will be donated to the 9th annual New River Earth Day Celebration.     The New River Community and Technical College Office of Workforce Education will offer a dog obedience training class at the Nicholas County Campus in Summersville this spring. The six-week class will be held on Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m., April 3 through May 8.

  • Initial autopsies of children show no sign of internal trauma

    The bodies of a 3-month-old boy and his 1-year-old sister who were discovered unresponsive inside their Hilltop home by their mother Tuesday morning showed no signs of internal trauma, strangulation or suffocation in the initial autopsies performed Wednesday by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler reported Wednesday.
