Robert Allen Anderson
Robert Allen Anderson, 68, of Sanger, died April 28, 2008, at his home.
Born March 23, 1940, at Russellville, he was the son of the late Claude and Blanche Dora Parks Anderson. A brother, Billy Anderson, and a sister, Betty Neal, also preceded him in death.
He was a retired carpenter.
Mr. Anderson was a veteran of the U.S. Army.        
Surviving: his wife, Teresa Ann Howington Anderson; a daughter, Blanche Enola Anderson of Sanger; a stepson, Billy Harold Gill of Sanger; brothers, Kenneth Anderson of Oak Hill and Jesse Anderson of Ansted; and a sister, Rose Smith of Ansted.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 2, at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with the Rev. David Sneed officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill, with military graveside rites by VFW Post No. 3110, Oak Hill.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at the funeral home.

James Ray Carter
James Ray Carter, 68, of Mount Hope, died April 22, 2008, at Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley.
Born Dec. 13, 1939, at Scarbro, he was the son of the late William Ray and Ruth Evelyn Harmon Carter. A son, Troy, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Carter was a self-employed carpenter and roofer. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served seven years.
Surviving: daughters, Carrean of Washington state and Kimberly of Indiana; sisters, Glenna Carter of Mount Hope, Margaret Carol Stump of Mount Hope and Barbara Louise Lyle of Atlanta, Ga.; brothers, Robert Carter of Oak Hill, Ronald Carter of Crab Orchard, Richard Carter of Atlanta and Thomas Carter of New York; and several nieces and nephews.
Service was April 26 at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope, with the Rev. Robert Barley officiating. Burial was at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Gladys Mae Griffith
Gladys Mae Griffith, 58, of Hilltop, died April 21, 2008.
Born Nov. 20, 1949, she was the daughter of Clayton and the late Marie Webb. 
In addition to her mother, Gladys was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Hatcher.
Gladys fought a courageous battle with cancer from 1996 until the end.
Surviving: her husband, David Griffith; son, Steven Lucas and companion, Deanna, of Coal City; father, Clayton Webb of Red Star; grandchildren, Daniel Hatcher, Breanna Hatcher, Ginny Lucas, Michael Lucas and Patricia Lucas; sister, Mary Derringer and companion, David, of Beckley; brother, Kenneth Kuhn and wife, Margie, of Eccles; sister, Melissa Miklos and husband, Michael, of Red Star; a special nephew, Little Kenny; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
Service was April 24 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with the Rev. Cecil McClellan officiating. Burial followed at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Howard ‘Dick’ Hudnall
Howard “Dick” Hudnall, 87, of Minden, died April 25, 2008, at home following a long illness.
Born May 1, 1920, at Highland Mountain, he was the son of the late Hanson and Kate Fleshman Hudnall. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Gracie Light Hudnall, and a sister, Katheryn Adkins.
Mr. Hudnall was disabled.
He had no survivors.
Services were April 29 at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, officiated by Rev. Charles Pittman.

Edna Fitzwater Lewis
Edna Fitzwater Lewis, 74, of Danese, died April 22, 2008.
Born March 10, 1934, near Red Springs, she was the daughter of the late Charles Wilson and Sarah Jane “Sally” Gentry Fitzwater. She also was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed deer hunting. She was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving: her husband, Lou G. Lewis; a daughter, Linda Lucille Reichard of Meadow Bridge; and a sister, Barbara Cook of Front Royal, Va.
Graveside service was April 26 at P.A. Shuck Cemetery, Landisburg, with the Rev. Steve Martin officiating.

Reva Ann Martin
Reva Ann Martin, 84, of Nallen, died April 28, 2008, at Summersville Memorial Hospital, following a viral pneumonia. 
Reva was born March 29, 1924, at Nallen, a daughter of the late Lewis Elliott Adkins and Lily Adkins. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Russell George Martin, on Jan. 11, 1996; and three brothers, an infant boy Adkins, Frank Adkins and Cecil Adkins. 
She was a homemaker and a member of Russellville Baptist Church. 
Surviving: daughters, Shirleen Faye Bisdorf of Hamilton, Ohio, Janette Jane Brown of Nallen, Myra Lee Queen of Hilton Village, Barbara Ona Tigert of Beckley, Darlene Gibson of Russellville, Debora Kay Sims of Rainelle, Vicky Lynn Ausley of Corliss and Teresa Lou Cole of Big Bend; sons, Kenneth Edward Martin of Olive Hill, Ky., Arnold David Martin of Hilton Village and Glenn Terry Martin of Russellville; sisters, Ada Donelson, Retha Gray and Zela Armstrong, all of Summersville, Lucille Dixx of Palm Bay, Fla., Olivene Bennett of Corliss and Rosie Ramsey of Danese; a brother, Gerald Adkins of Lookout; 34 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. 
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home Chapel, Ansted, with Pastor Gene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor.

Edith Mae Seay Perkins
Edith Mae Campbell Seay Perkins, 89, of Fayetteville, died April 28, 2008, at Hilltop Center following an extended illness.
Born Jan. 3, 1919, at Kaymoor No. 2, Fayetteville, she was the daughter of the late Jacob R. and Mamie Carte Campbell. She also was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles “Stubby” Seay and James Perkins; and a son, Terry Wayne Seay.
Mrs. Perkins was a homemaker and a member of First Church of God, Fayetteville.
Surviving: her sons, William Howard Seay, Lannie Gene Seay, Roger Dale Seay, Charles Kurtin Seay and Hank Gehrig Seay; daughters, Sandra Uldine Seay, Althea Rose Seay Orrego, Ellen Elaine Seay Vera and Tammie Joyce Seay; and 45 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home Chapel, Fayetteville, with Pastor Justin Seay and Pastor Bob Coulter officiating. Burial will follow in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

Gerald Lee ‘Jerry’ Scott
Gerald Lee “Jerry” Scott, 69, of Ravenswood, formerly of Oak Hill, died April 27, 2008, at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston.
Born Sept. 2, 1938, at Oak Hill, he was the son of Mary Mae Hambrick Scott of Oak Hill and the late Frank Scott. His wife, JoAnn Krisko Scott, also preceded him in death.
Jerry was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Ravenswood. He retired from Century Aluminum, Ravenswood.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a 1956 graduate of Collins High School, Oak Hill.
Surviving, in addition to his mother: a son David Scott and his wife, Georgeanne, of Rising Sun, Md.; daughter, Dora Ann Bias and her husband, Steve, of Charleston; sisters, Doris Stokey of Knoxville, Tenn., and Frankie Mae Sokoff of San Jose, Calif.; and grandchildren, Samuel Scott, April Scott and Matthew Bias.
The funeral service was April 30 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Ravenswood, with Father John Finnell officiating. Burial was in Ravenswood Cemetery.

Cletis Lee Shrewsbury
Cletis Lee Shrewsbury, 61, of Scarbro, died April 25, 2008, at home following a short illness.
Born Nov. 15, 1946, in Beckley, he was the son of the late Noah and Mae Ferris Shrewsbury. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Connie Shrewsbury.
Mr. Shrewsbury was disabled.
Surviving: daughters, Tonyia Phillips and Pamela Phillips, both of Oak Hill, Rebecca Clyburn of Ironton, Ohio, and Cathy Williams of Prosperity; brothers, Paul and David Shrewsbury, both of Scarbro, Darrell Shrewsbury of Mt. Hope and Danny Shrewsbury of Beckley; sisters, Bonnie Alberty of Scarbro and Reita Williams of Summersville; and six grandchildren.
Services were held at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, on April 28 with Rev. Dorothy Osborne officiating. Burial followed in the IOOF Cemetery, Oak Hill.

Geneva Pearl Lilly Wright
Geneva Pearl Lilly Wright, 88, of Pax, died April 21, 2008, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley.
Born Oct. 7, 1919, at Mount Hope, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Elbert and Zeffie Kessler Lilly. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, and also was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred R. Wright.
Mrs. Wright was a homemaker, and a member of the Pax Church of Christ. She was also active in the Pax Senior Center.
Surviving: a daughter, Brenda Maynor and husband, Thomas (Duke), of Pax; a son, Daniel Wright and wife, Susan Kay, of Pax; grandchildren, Christopher Wright of Stephens City, Va., and Susan England of Maple Fork; and six great-grandchildren.
Service was April 23 at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope, with the Rev. Tom Lilly officiating. Burial followed in Pax Community Cemetery at Pax.
