Judy Hart Bragg
Judy Hart Bragg, 64, of Danese, died June 2, 2008, at her home after a long battle with cancer.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Freeman.
Mrs. Bragg was a member of the Moose Lodge #1857 in Rainelle.
Surviving: her husband, Robert H. Bragg Jr.; son, Tommy Hart and his wife, Alisa, of St. Albans; daughter, Tracy Taylor and her husband, Jon, of South Charleston; brothers, Gene Blackshire of Cross Lanes and Bobby Blackshire of Buffalo, N.Y.; sister, Cathy Monday of Amelia, Ohio; aunt, Josephine Parton of Parkersburg; and her two grandchildren, Tyler and Allison.
Funeral services were June 6 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor Charles LaRue officiating. Burial followed in Grandview Memorial Park.

Glen Ray Comer
Glen Ray Comer, 60, of Cannelton, died June 6, 2008, at Montgomery General Hospital in Montgomery.
Born Dec. 27, 1947, in Raleigh County, he was the son of the late Dale Woodrow and Opal Margie Runion Comer.
Glen was of the Apostolic Holiness faith.
Surviving: brothers, Jimmy Henson of Mullens, and Charles Comer and Roger Comer, both of Oak Hill; half-brothers, Frankie Runion and Glen Whittington, both of Oak Hill; and half-sisters, Sue Myers of Anthony, Fla., and Wanda Popovich of Alexandria, Va.
Graveside rites and committal services will be on Thursday, June 12, at 11:30 a.m. at the Settle Cemetery in Robson, with Rev. Ayers officiating. Burial will follow.

Clarence ‘Buddy’ Woodrow Duncan Jr.
Clarence “Buddy” Woodrow Duncan Jr., 65, of Mount Hope, died June 8, 2008, at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital, Beckley.
Born Nov. 20, 1942, at Stotesbury, he was the son of the late Clarence Woodrow “Joe” Sr. and Mary Madeline Wees Duncan. He also was preceded in death by a brother, James “Jimmy” Duncan; and a sister, Nancy Kay Duncan.
Mr. Duncan was a disabled construction worker. He was a member of the Kilsyth Free Will Baptist Church and was also a U.S. Army Korean War veteran.
Surviving: sons, Clarence Woodrow Duncan III of Pratt, and Danny Dean Duncan of Kilsyth; daughters, Nena Beavers of Chapin, S.C., and Sharon Humphrey and husband, Charles, of Marmet; brothers, Billy Ray Duncan and wife, Donna, of Maple Fork, John Samuel “Sammy” Duncan of Oak Hill, and David Michael “Mike” Duncan of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Barbara James of Sand Branch, Connie Jo Craddock of Maple Fork, Mary Sue Norment and husband, Herbert, of Heflin, La., Ruby Carol Swigart and husband, Frank, of Diamond, Ohio, and Patty Logan and husband, Samuel, of Mount Hope; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

John Edward Holcomb, 23, of Athens, a life-long Fayetteville resident, died May 31, 2008.
Born Nov. 28, 1984, at Charleston, he was the beloved son of the late Morgan E. and Mildred Marie Perry Holcomb. A half-brother, Dan Holcomb, and a half-sister, Sue Hodges, also preceded him in death.
John graduated from Fayetteville High School and Concord University, Athens.
Surviving: a half-brother, Jack Holcomb of Georgia; an aunt, Pamela Moses of Praireville, La.; an uncle, Thomas Simms of Fayetteville; and cousins, Lisa Simms and Christine Shyler.

Ella Mae Suttle Jones, 81, of Live Oak, Fla., formerly of Harvey, died June 1, 2008, at her home.
Born May 17, 1927, at Glen Rogers, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Mamie Brunty Suttle. Her husband, Ray C. Jones, and a sister, Nellie Criss, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Jones was a member of Harvey United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.
Surviving: a daughter, Kimberly Jones Vensek of Cartersville, Ga.; four brothers, Ralph Suttle of Bridgeton, N.J., Steve Suttle of Bridgeton, Jim Suttle of Glouchester, N.J., and Frank Suttle of Farmington, Mo.; sisters, Marie Keller of Bridgeton, Wilda Lacey of New Jersey, Joann Russo of Millville, N.J., and Dreama Tucker of Michigan; and two grandchildren.

Mary Lou Stover Levins, 76, of Oak Hill, died June 7, 2008, at home, following a long illness.
Born May 3, 1932, at Mossy, she was the daughter of the late George Quincy and Adith Aretta Wriston Stover. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Tamela Rose Levins; brothers, Houston and Quincy Stover; and by a sister, Esther Jane Stover.
She was retired from Fayette County Department of Human Resources as a social worker. She was a member of the Oak Hill Apostolic Church and the Ladies Dorcas Circle of the church.
Surviving: daughters, Deborah Levins and Shawna Levins; a son, Ronald Wayne Levins (Carla); sisters, Gaynelle Carrico and Eva Mae Williams; granddaughters, Shelba Jane Levins and Daytona Delrose Levins; a grandson, J.A. Kirk; a great-grandson, Malachi Kirk; and sister-in-law, Katheryn Stover, all of Oak Hill.
Services was June 11 at Oak Hill Apostolic Church, Oak Hill, with Rev. Carlos Lewis, Rev. Louis Wooten, and Erik C. Lewis officiating. Burial followed in Highlawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Evelyn Elizabeth Stegel Lucas
Evelyn Elizabeth Stegel Lucas, 87, of Oak Hill, died June 7, 2008, while at home with her loving family by her side.
Born July 23, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Brentha Hornsby Lucas. She also was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Rev. Louie Stegel; their son, Roger; brothers, Howard and Ralph Lucas; daughter-in-law, Claudia Stegel; great-grandson, Darrell E. “Boo” Stegel III; and a brother, Raymond.
Evelyn dedicated her life to the Lord and her family. She was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church for more than 60 years. As a pastor’s wife, she provided several services to the church, including teaching Sunday school, sharing her artistic talent and visiting and caring for the sick members of the church.
As a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, she was an inspiration to all who knew her. The Lord could always be felt in her presence.
Surviving: sons, Darrell Eugene Stegel and wife, Dixie, of Beckley, Gar Stegel and wife, Jeanie, of Oak Hill, and Damon Stegel of Chattanooga, Tenn.; daughters, Anna James and husband, Orville, of Oak Hill, Brenda Nester and husband, Kenneth, of Teays Valley, and Connie Ferguson of Oak Hill; 14 grandchildren, Danny, Jane, Eddie, Frank, Terra, Darrell “Butch,” Wayne, Cindy, Johnny, Lisa, Jamie, Brad, Sam and Barkley; as well as 26 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday, June 13 at 2 p.m. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with Rev. John Harper officiating. Music will be provided by the Harper family. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Gladys Naomi McClung, 77, of Hilltop, died June 7, 2008, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley.
Born Dec. 8, 1930, at Layland, she was the daughter of the late Henry Joseph and Sceverna Fitzpatrick Jinks. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Oather Allen McClung; brothers, Alvin Callahan, John Jinks, Bobby Jinks, Vernon Jinks, and Henry Jinks Jr.; and sisters, Mary Blevins and Mamie Kelley.
Mrs. McClung was a homemaker, a member of the Church of God of Prophecy at Pea Ridge, and was loved by many.
Surviving: her son, Henry A. McClung and his wife, Carol, of Hilltop; a granddaughter, Samantha McClung Yearego and her husband, Curtis, of Oak Hill; brothers, Nathan Jinks of Sedalia, Mo., and James Jinks and his wife, Merium, of Dyke, Va.; a sister, Margie Hampton and her husband, Ray, of Erlanger, Ky.; brother and sister-in-law, William and Velma McClung of Parma, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Lillian McClung of Hilltop; great-grandsons, Joseph and Jakob Yearego; caregiver, Lynn Fernandez; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Alma Louise McVey, 79, of Mount Hope, died June 7, 2008, at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.
Born Aug. 11, 1928, at Ansted, she was the daughter of the late Edward Hansford Cavendish and Lelia Mae McClary Cavendish. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Meredith Cavendish.
Alma was a hairdresser and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Oak Hill.
Surviving: her husband, Gus McVey; daughters, Beverly Williams of Oak Hill, Elayne Tolley of Mount Hope, and Patricia Metzer and husband John of Union; a son, John Tolley and wife Roberta of Lookout; a sister, Margie Blankenship of Greenville, S.C.; a brother, Gerald Cavendish of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Her remains rest at the High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, 1435 E. Main St., Oak Hill, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
The funeral service was June 11 at the Calvary Baptist Church, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Houston Boothe officiating. Entombment followed in Rest Lawn Memory Gardens in Victor.

Carrie Evelyn Painter Miller, 86, of Sweeneysburg Road, Beckley, died June 8, 2008, at her home.
Born Nov. 30, 1921, at Maynor, she was the daughter of the late Elson and Leta Williams Painter. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “Joe” Miller on March 12, 1992; and brothers, Robert Painter, Sammy Painter and Cleveland Painter. Carrie was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Miller was a member of the Maynor Free Will Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Surviving: her children, Margie Poindexter of Beckley, Gene Miller and wife, Irene, of Beckley, Rev. Harry Miller and wife, Laura, of Sweeneysburg Road, Loretta Elmore and husband, Joe, of Sweeneysburg Road, Donald Miller and wife, Vicki, of Beckley, JoAnn Mullins and husband, Herman, of Waldorf, Md., and Sherry Beasley, whom she raised, of Warsaw, Va.; 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and a very special caregiver, Carol Owens.

Nellie Ann Kokoski Nowlin, 90, of Oak Hill, died June 5, 2008, at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill.
Born Nov. 15, 1917, at Wilkes-Barre, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Elizabeth Anna Perkant Kokoski. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, Norman H. Staples; her second husband, William Everette Nowlin; and a son, Albert J. Kokoski. Nellie also was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by three brothers, Joe Kokoski, Tony Kokoski and Frank Kokoski.
She was retired, having worked as a waitress at Hotel Hill and as a cook for Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School.
She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Oak Hill. Nellie was a member of the Ladies Guild of the church and TOPS. She enjoyed making crafts and going to craft shows.
Surviving: sons, Norman W. “Bill” Staples and wife, Sue, of Oak Hill, Everette Ira Nowlin of Oak Hill, and Michael Anthony Nowlin of Oak Hill; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and her special caregiver, Barbara Kinley.
Mass of Christian burial was June 9, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Oak Hill, with Father Paul Yuenger officiating. Burial was at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Gary D. Pritt
Gary D. Pritt, 60, of Oak Hill, died June 4, 2008, following an extended illness and battle with complications of diabetes.
Born July 26, 1947, at Elkins, he was the son of Hallie Pritt Bryant of Fayetteville and the late Roy Pritt, and stepson of the late Rev. Acie Bryant.
Gary was retired from West Virginia American Water Co. where he had worked for 26 years as a lab technician until forced to retire due to his poor health. He was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and was a member of the Bible Class.
Mr. Pritt was a volunteer in his Oak Hill community schools, band and with the Fayette Ministerial Food Pantry. An avid outdoorsman all his life, his special place of refuge for fishing and hunting was Glady Rest. He also enjoyed bowling and golfing.
Mr. Pritt was a 1965 graduate of Elkins High School.
Surviving, in addition to his mother: his wife, Hilda Pritt; son, Timothy Pritt of Oak Hill; daughter, Tammy Pritt of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister, Patricia Shalap and brother-in-law, Michael, of Strasburg, Va.; nieces, Trecia Hockman and Beth Shalap; nephews, David and Paul Shalap; grandnieces, Rachel, Ashton, Katie and Maggie; grandnephew, Justin; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins whom he treasured and loved and who will all miss him.
Service was June 7 at Oak Hill United Methodist Church with Dr. John Sauvage officiating. Music was provided by the Oak Hill United Methodist Choir. Burial was at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Dorothy Peters Sizemore, 91, of Oak Hill, died June 4, 2008, at her home.
Born Oct. 24, 1916, at Red Star, she was the daughter of the late Charles Wenkfield and Mary Taylor Peters. Her husband, Luther Franklin “Luke” Sizemore, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Sizemore was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church at Fayette Heights and was a homemaker. Her life was loving and doing for her family and her church.

Lawrence Charles White
Lawrence Charles White, 82, of Fayetteville, died June 5, 2008, at Cornerstone Hospital in Huntington.
Born July 24, 1925, in Boomer, he was one of 14 children born to the late Joseph and Mary Lobascio “Bianchi” White. He also was preceded him in death by a brother, John White; and sisters, Teresa Winter, Anna White and Elizabeth Pascucci.
Lawrence was a retired supervisor from Elkem Metals Co. in Alloy with 38 years of service. He was a United States Army veteran serving in World War II.
He married Betty June Lowe in 1950. After their marriage, they lived in Montgomery, where they were blessed with 12 beautiful children. In 1968 the family moved to Fayetteville. Lawrence enjoyed having his family gather every Sunday where he would cook his famous spaghetti and meatballs. He also enjoyed watching his kids participate in sports and later loved watching the Herd and the Mountaineers.
Surviving: brothers, Mike White of Cedar Grove, Amelio “Tete” White of St. Albans, Anthony White of Boomer, William White of Boomer and Freddie White of Charleston, S.C.; his sisters, Vicky Lynch of Boomer, Veola Grounds of Montgomery, Angelina Mullins of Winfield and Sister Nancy “Mary Jo” White of Morgantown; 12 children, Larry J. Danny was a caring person who enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
