Mrs. Tarsie Bibb, formerly of Parkersburg and Fayette County, died June 18, 2008.
Funeral service was June 23 at the Bethany Baptist Church, 959 Bulen Ave., Columbus, Ohio.

William ‘Bill’ Blagg
William “Bill” Blagg, 70, of Chestnut Knob Road, Layland, died June 17, 2008, at Veteran’s Medical Center, Beckley, with his family by his side.
Born Dec. 11, 1937, at Mt. Nebo, he was the son of the late William I. Blagg Sr. and Martha Sarah King Blagg. He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Maxine Fox and Mae Blagg; and three brothers, Jim, Lee and Herb Blagg.
Bill was a U. S. Army veteran, a long time volunteer for the Danese Ambulance Service, a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA and a timber cutter.
Surviving: his wife of 42 years, Drema Mae Graham Blagg of Layland; daughters, Sherry Hodakowski (Freeman) of Ft. Campbell, Ky., Megan Blagg of Ft. Campbell, Ky., and Elizabeth Hill (Kevin) of Beckley; sons, William E. Blagg of Beckley and Michael Blagg (Stephanie) of Layland; a daughter-in-law, Lorie Brown of Martinsburg; sisters, Connie Garten of Danese, Kay Hunter of Meadow Bluff, Kendall Lane of Greensboro, N.C., Juanita Self of Louisville, Ky., and Betty Stump of Rainelle; brothers, Carl Blagg of Danese and Dennis Blagg of Big Stone Gap, Va.; grandchildren, Samantha Cushard, Sabrina Arevalo, Jason Cushard, Christopher Brown, Dylan Hodakowski, Becky Blagg, Josh Hodakowski, Hayden Blagg, Bethany Turner and Haley Turner; great-grandchildren, Jazmine and Dominic Arevalo; several nieces and nephews; and many long time friends in the Danese and Layland area.
Service was June 21 at the Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Rainelle with the Rev. William Lilly officiating. Burial followed at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.

Gary Douglas Craigo Sr.
Gary Douglas Craigo Sr. died June 13, 2008.
Born May 2, 1954, in Montgomery, he was the son of the late Loren and Irene Craigo. Gary also was preceded in death by a brother, David Meshak, and a nephew, Steven Dixon.
He attended Mt. Hope High School. He was a member of the Mountaineer Cruiser Car Club. His life-long hobby was crafting cars.
Gary met the love of his life in April of 1993. They were married three months later, on July 25, and enjoyed almost 15 wonderful years together.
A genuine, vivacious soul, Gary never met a stranger. He often displayed selfless acts of kindness to those in need. Gary will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed.
Surviving: his loving soul mate, Patricia Louise Craigo; children, Gary Douglas Craigo Jr., Amanda (Craigo) and husband Lamar Ward, and Samantha Wingrove-Craigo; step-children, Allen and wife Alisha Colaiseno, Thomas Colaiseno and Crystal Colaiseno; grandchildren, Justin Craigo, Vincent Craigo, Victoria Craigo, Tyler Partain, Noah Ward, Noalani Loren Ward, Kaylee Hughes, Jaden Colaiseno and Alex Colaiseno; brothers, Richard and wife Jeanie Craigo, Teddy and wife Carol Craigo and Loren and wife Patti Meshak; sisters, Sandra Calvert, Beverly and husband John Gilchrist and Kathy and husband Jack Owens; nine nephews and eight nieces.
Memorial services were held Monday, June 16.
Barbara Ellen Farrish
Barbara Ellen Farrish, 58, of Oak Hill, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Barbara was a native of Oak Hill, having been born on Nov. 16, 1949 to the late John and Elizabeth Latham Farrish.
Barbara was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army, member of the VFW Post No. 149 of Fayetteville, and completed office procedure courses from Job Corp.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Linda Smith and her husband, Steven, of New Creek, and Fern Radford of Prosperity; her brother, John Farrish and his wife, Lois, of Louisville, Ky.; three nephews, James David Pyle, John Wiliam Pyle and William Radford; and two nieces, Lisa Landers and Katy Farrish.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with Pastor Ken Wright officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill, where a military graveside service will be conducted by Oak Hill VFW Post No. 3110.
Friends may call at the funeral home 10 a.m. Thursday until the service hour of 11 a.m.
Pallbearers will be James David Pyle, John William Pyle, William Radford, Ronnie Armstrong, Steve Smith and John Farrish.

Herbert H. Fox Jr.
Herbert H. Fox Jr., 64, of Meadow Bridge, died June 20, 2008, at Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley, following a long illness.
Born July 18, 1943, in Kathryn, he was a son of the late Herbert H. and Dona Fox Sr. He also was preceded in death by sisters, Myrtle McClanahan and Mildred Goddard; and father and mother-in-law, Edgar and Lula Bryant.
Herb was a chef at The Greenbrier hotel in White Sulphur Springs for 33 years. He was a Christian and of the Baptist faith.
Surviving: his wife, Rose Marie Bryant Fox of Meadow Bridge; a son, Christopher Fox of Lewisburg; a granddaughter, Madison Fox of Caldwell; a sister, Greta Thompson and husband, Edward, of Rainelle; sisters-in-law, Arbutus Persinger and husband, Jack, of Rainelle and Della Stull and husband, Denzil, of Marion, Ark.; a brother-in-law, William Edgar Bryant Jr. and wife, Linda, of Richmond, Va.; five nephews, two nephews-in-law, and five nieces-in-law.
Services were June 24 at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Rainelle, with Rev. Milton Ker officiating. Burial followed at the Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville.

Kenneth C. Fox
Kenneth C. Fox, 73, of Bellwood, died June 21, 2008, in the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center at Fairlea, following a long illness.
Born Aug. 7, 1934, at Crickmer, he was the son of the late Robert and Lillie Goddard Fox.
Kenneth was a coal miner for most of his life. He was of the Pentecostal faith. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He loved fishing and old cars. Though he will be missed, his family knows he is waiting for them in heaven.
Surviving: his wife of 43 years, Velma Bennett Fox; a son, Edward Fox and wife Mary of Bellwood; a daughter, Threnna Dorsey and husband Bobby of Springdale; sisters, Retha Lively of Florida and Elsa Lane of West Virginia; grandchildren, Shena Fox, Aaron Dorsey, and Bobby Joe Dorsey; and a great-granddaughter, Takeisha Fox.
Graveside services was June 24 in the Claypool Cemetery at Meadow Bridge, with Pastor Tim Dillon officiating.

Blanche Light
Blanche Ellen Light, 91, of Wriston, died June 20, 2008, at the Hilltop Center, following an extended illness.
Born May 7, 1917, in Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late Lilburn and Ida Hester Phillips. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Clifton Light, and sons, Nathan Light and Edgar Light.
Mrs. Light was a member of the Wriston Church of God. She was a homemaker.
Surviving: her sons, Gary Light and wife, Dottie, of Wriston and Virgil Light and wife, Jolene, of Barberton, Ohio; daughters, Phyllis Jean Walton and husband, Lee, of Shelby, N.C., Clara Nadine Settle of Barberton, Ohio, Joyce Connor of Shady Spring, Donna Sue Jones of Newton, N.C., and Sandra Kay Taylor-Hatcher and husband, Dempsey, of Oak Hill; a brother, Chandler Phillips; 52 grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services were June 24 at the Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home Chapel, Fayetteville, with Pastor Jerry Bush officiating. Burial followed in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Richard Gregory McCoy
Richard Gregory McCoy, 50, of Keyrock, passed away Monday, June 23, 2008, following a long illness.
Born Jan. 27, 1958, in Mullens, he was the son of Deloris Wilhelm McCoy of Keyrock and the late Andrew McCoy.
Mr. McCoy was a coal miner for 29 years, of the Baptist faith and a lifelong resident of Keyrock. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding four-wheelers and being outdoors.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew “Andy” McCoy Jr.
In addition to his mother, Richard leaves behind his loving wife of 26 years, Debra “Debbie” Osborne McCoy; a son, Michael Paul McCoy and his wife, Sara, of Keyrock; a daughter, Kimberly Dawn McCoy and her companion, Raymond Fairley, of Keyrock; a granddaughter, Abby McCoy of Keyrock; two sisters, Andrea McCoy of Big Stone Gap, Va., and Dinah Davis and her husband, Bill, of Oak Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service was Wednesday at McCoy Family Cemetery, Keyrock, with Elder Bryce Phillips officiating.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Amara Evette Neely
Amara Evette Neely, 6-week-old baby daughter of Tara Neal and Joseph Neely of Oak Hill, died on Friday, June 20, 2008, at CAMC Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Charleston.
She was born on May 6, 2008, at Huntington.
Her paternal grandfather, Daniel B. Neely Jr., and great-grandparents, Daniel B. Neely Sr. and Dorothy Neely, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sister, Chloe Neely of Oak Hill; paternal grandmother, Linda Neely of Oak Hill; maternal grandparents, Anna Kincaid of Oak Hill and Neal Kincaid of Fayetteville; maternal great-grandparents, Richard and Lee Ann Baily of Oak Hill; and paternal great-grandmother, Irene Neely of Oak Hill; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services was on Wednesday, June 25 at 2 p.m. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill. Burial was at the Treadway Cemetery, Oak Hill.

Alice Niday
Alice Niday, 86, of Victor, died June 11, 2008, at Ansted Center, following a long illness.
Born Feb. 20, 1922, in Bentree, she was a daughter of the late Jennings and Bessie Mae Ward Niday. A son, Benny G. Niday, also preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker.
Surviving: sons, William A. Niday and Patricia of Victor, and Robert L. Niday and Anita Sue of Marion, Ohio; sister, Emma Lou Neal and Percy of Mt. Nebo; brothers, George Elliott and Jewel, and Gerald Elliott and Gay, both of Lizemores; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was June 13 at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ansted. Burial followed in the Restlawn Memory Gardens at Victor.

Charlotte Baitha Rodgers, 72, of Corliss, died June 20, 2008, in the Heartland of Rainelle, following a long illness.
Born June 20, 1936, in Quinwood, she was the daughter of the late William and Peachie Nutter Neal. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Mackrel Rodgers; a daughter, Charlotte Louise Rodgers; a brother, Mike Neal; and a sister, Dorothy Rogers.
Charlotte was a housewife who enjoyed working in her flower garden.
Surviving: children, Norma Sue Aldridge of Rainelle, Randy Lee Rodgers of Rainelle, Linda Lou Carte of Tennessee, Dreama Kay Waugh of Rainelle, Kenneth Dale Rodgers of Rainelle, Russell Boyd Rodgers of Rainelle, Kathy Alderman of Renick, Melvin Leo Rogers of Raleigh, N.C., Lisa Ann Rogers of Rainelle, Scotty Lee Rodgers of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Wanda Lou Rodgers of Charlotte, N.C.; brothers, Abraham Neal of Mt. Lookout, Tom Neal of Quinwood, Ben Neal of Nallen, LeRoy Neal of Quinwood, and David Neal of Quinwood; sisters, Hallie Haynes of Nallen and Mary Parsons of Halifax, Va.; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Geneva Sue Elmore Samples
Geneva Sue Elmore Samples, 75, of Oak Hill, died June 19, 2008, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington.
Born April 28, 1933 at Turkey Knob, Mount Hope, she was the daughter of the late Otha and Minnie May Hutchison Elmore. Her husband, Ralph Dare Samples, preceded her in death on July 19, 2000. She also was preceded by a sister, Ruby Spessard; and brothers, Junior Elmore and Pinto Elmore.
Geneva was an employee for McDonald’s of Oak Hill. She formerly attended the Methodist church.
Surviving: son, Rick Samples of Oak Hill; daughters, Kathy Lucas and husband, Jim, of Burnwell and Tammy Smith of Aiken, S.C.; brothers, Eddie Elmore of Oak Hill and Billy Elmore of Beckley; sisters, Lois Smith of Oak Hill, Linda Rainey of Hilltop and Carol Smith of Beckley; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were June 22 at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Rick Walker officiating. Entombment was at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill.

Ulysses Earl Smith, 90, of Beckley, died June 14, 2008 at Heartland of Beckley following an extended illness.
