Alice Carlene Bailey Aranda

Alice Carlene Bailey Aranda, 71, of Oak Hill, died Nov. 29, at home following a short illness.

Born Aug. 26, 1934, in Matoaka, she was the daughter of the late Elmos Carl and Lena Elizabeth Thompson Bailey. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Elaine Aranda Coffman; a grandson, Sean Douglas Coffman; and a brother, Darrell Douglas Duncan.

Mrs. Aranda was a retired practical nurse for Aristocrat of Cleveland, Ohio.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Oak Hill.

Surviving: her husband, Theodore W. “Ted” Aranda; a son, Theodore W. Aranda of North Ridgeville, Ohio; a daughter, Patricia Darlene Aranda Conner of Oak Hill; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be Thursday, Dec. 1 at Tyree Funeral Home with the Rev. Bernie Jernigan and the Rev. Delmas Wolfe officiating. Interment will be in the High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Scott Russell Bandy

Scott Russell Bandy, 33, of Winona, died Nov. 26, 2005, at his home following a long illness.

Born Dec. 10, 1971, in Warren, Ohio, he was the son of Harold G. Bandy and Linda E. Roland Bandy of Winona.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gordon L. Bandy and Samantha I. Bandy; and maternal grandparents, Teary Roland and Richard G. Roland.

Mr. Bandy was a member of Keeney’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Winona, and graduated from Midland Trail High School. He worked as plant manager for Crown Vinyl Products before becoming disabled. He loved spending time with his family and he was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and camping.

Surviving: his wife, Sonya Lea Bandy; daughters, Katrina Brooke Bandy and Brittany Lynn Bandy, both at home; his dog, Jake; parents, Harold G. Bandy and Linda E. Bandy of Winona; and a sister, Kimberly L. McQuerrey and her husband, Paul, of Winona.

Memorial service will be at a later date. Scott’s request was that his body be donated to the West Virginia University Human Gift Registry.

Memorial donations may be made in his memory, to be put in a fund for his daughters, in care of Sonya Bandy, P.O. Box 8, Winona, WV 25942.

Ellis Huston ‘Red’ Barker Jr.

Ellis Huston “Red” Barker Jr., 82, of Fayetteville, died Nov. 22, 2005, at Fayette Nursing & Rehab Center in Fayetteville.

Born April 17, 1923, at Rush Run, he was the son of the late Ellis Huston Barker Sr. and Elizabeth Hartenstein Barker. His brother, Francis L. Barker, also preceded him in death in 1998.

Surviving: several cousins, including Dorothy Morton Hawver of Berea, Ohio; and a long-time friend, Diana Janney of Bank One, Oak Hill.

Graveside rities and committal service were Nov. 23 at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill.

Floyd ‘Ed’ Edward Clay

Floyd “Ed” Edward Clay, 85, of Page, died Nov. 28, 2005.

Born March 12, 1920, in Page, the son of the late Howard and Lilly Mae Cobb Clay. He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Dolin Clay; brothers, John, Truman, Grover, and Dillon Clay; and a sister, Belva Dolin.

Mr. Clay was a retired coal miner and was a member of the UMWA.

He was a member of the First Church of God at Kincaid, where he was Sunday school superintendent for many years.

Surviving: his wife, Virginia Mae Tincher Clay; sons, Floyd William (Kathy) Clay of Kincaid, and Ronald Lee Clay and Donald Edward Clay, both of Page; daughters, Mary Lou (Sidney) Price of Ingram Branch, and Marlene Lynn (David) Rogers of Charlottesville, Va.; stepsons, Paul (Barbara) Cobb, Tommy (Cheryl) Cobb, and Robbie (Mary Ellen) Cobb, all of Page; stepdaughter, Kathy (Will) Thomas of Roanoke, Va.; grandsons, Aaron, John, and Clinton Clay; granddaughter, Kayla Clay; and seven step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. at the First Church of God, Kincaid. The Rev. Gerald Grant and the Rev. Eugene Morris will officiate. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill.

Michael Wayne ‘Paco’ Dixon-Bragg

Michael Wayne “Paco” Dixon-Bragg, 21, of Oak Hill, died Nov. 24, 2005, at home following a sudden illness.

Born Dec. 23, 1983, in Beckley, he was the son of Larry Bragg and Catherine Ritondo Dixon, both of Oak Hill.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edith and Anthony Ritondo and Clarence and Beulah Bragg.

Surviving, in addition to his parents: his brother, Harold Dixon of Kincaid; a sister, Teresa Dixon Stine of Inwood; a half-sister, Kirsten Bragg of Springfield, Ill.; a nephew, Jason Dixon; a niece, Patti Dixon, who lived with Michael; and three other nephews and three other nieces.

Service was Nov. 28 at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, with Pastors Virgil and Jackie Harrington officiating. Burial followed in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Shirley Jean ‘Polly’ Keller

Shirley Jean “Polly” Keller, 69, of Oak Hill, died Nov. 25, 2005, following an extended illness.

Born July 3, 1936, at Page, she was the daughter of the late James Baughan and Hazel Ross Heald. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee “Bob” Keller, on Feb. 3, 1999; a son, David Eugene Keller; two brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Keller was a member of Salem Road Freewill Baptist Church. She previously worked at Dempsey School, sat with elderly folks and worked at area pizza restaurants, working last at Valmore’s Pizza. She enjoyed singing karaoke and playing bingo. She was a member of the Oak Hill Moose Club.

Surviving: her sons, Leon Keller of Alabama and Gary Keller and companion, Linda Lane, of Beckley; daughters, Kathy McClung and husband, Eugene, of Oak Hill, Judy Keller of Oak Hill and Ruth McComas and husband, Bobby, of Oak Hill; stepsons, Bobby Keller, Eddie Keller, Jackie Keller and Larry Keller; a stepdaughter, Marie Johnson; grandchildren, Alicia Lester, Jason Querry, Kelly and Karen Keller, Dakato and Katherine Jean Keller, Phillip King, Heather Collins and Aaron McComas; a great-grandchild, Breanna Lester; and four brothers and four sisters.

Service was Nov. 28 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home Chapel, Fayetteville, with Rev. Kenneth Garrett officiating. Burial followed in Spearin Cemetery, Dempsey.

A memorial service also was held Monday at the Oak Hill Moose Lodge.

Katheryn ‘Katie Mae’ Kincaid

Katheryn “Katie Mae” Kincaid, 57, of Cleveland, Ohio, died Nov. 10, 2005, at her residence.

She was preceded in death by her father, Orval Foster; son, Scott Kincaid; sister, Jean Taylor; and brother, Kenneth Foster.

Mrs. Kincaid was well known for her sewing.

She was of the Church of God faith.

Surviving: her husband, Jerry C. Kincaid of Cleveland; sons, Jimmy Kincaid and his wife Karin Rowlee, of Snellville, Ga., and Andy Kincaid and his wife, Milissa, of Cleveland; mother, Demple Foster of Wriston; sisters, Joann Smith, Linda Shay, Ruth Smith, Carol Fitzwater and Sandra Sharp; brothers, Stanley Foster of Wriston and Jack Foster of Bluefield; daughter-in-law, Jill Kincaid; grandchildren, Alex and Witney Kincaid and Alia McKnight; and several nieces and nephews.

Betty Ann (Fox) Lilly

Betty Ann (Fox) Lilly (nee Kincaid), 77, of Elyria, Ohio, formerly of Meadow Bridge, died Nov. 27, 2005, at her home following a brief illness.

Funeral service will be Thursday, Dec. 1 at 1 p.m. at the Chapel at Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville with the Rev. Allan Whitt officiating. Entombment will follow at Wallace Memorial Mausoleum in Clintonville.



Beryl Henderson Lucas

Beryl Henderson Lucas, 84, of Highland, Mich., died Nov. 24, 2005, in Livonia, Mich.

Born March 17, 1921, in England, she was the daughter of the late Hugh M. and Dorothy Rogers Henderson.

She was a “war bride,” having met and married her husband, Sidney, while he was stationed in England during World War II.

Mrs. Lucas was homemaker.

Surviving: her beloved husband, Sidney C. Lucas, formerly of Oak Hill; son, John (Christine) Lucas; daughters, Karen (Richard) Paul and Kimberly (Matthew) Pisko; grandchildren, John E. Lucas, Erin and Christopher Paul, and Mackenzie Pisko; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane (James) King of Oak Hill, and Gloria (C.V.) Meeks of Miami, Fla.

A private service will be held out of the country.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Michigan Humane Society.

Robert Lee Painter

Robert Lee Painter, 69, of Scarbro, died Nov. 20, 2005, at his home following a brief illness.

Born Nov. 22, 1935, in Fayette County, he was the son of the late Harold J. and Georgia Carpenter Painter. His companion, Dorothy Meadows, and a brother, Everett Painter, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Painter was a custodial/maintenance worker for the Fayette County Board of Education.

He was a U.S. Navy and U.S. Army veteran, having served on the USS Braine off the coast of Korea.

Surviving: daughters, Roberta Mercer and husband, John, of Tucson, Ariz., Rose Hughes and husband, Donald, of Ida, Mich., and Linda Kardia and Patti of Ann Arbor, Mich.; a brother, Dan Painter of Ypsilanti, Mich.; sisters, Betty Burford of Ypsilanti and Jean Tyree of Austintown, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside rites and committal were Nov. 25 at Pax Community Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Sears officiating. Burial followed, with military rites being conducted by VFW Post No. 3110 of Oak Hill.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, WV Division, 301 RHL Blvd., Stations 6 & 7, Charleston, WV, 25311.

Bonnie Loretta ‘Bonnie Lee’ Woods

Bonnie Loretta “Bonnie Lee” Woods, 62, of Fayetteville, died Nov. 25, 2005, at Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill, following a short illness.

Born Aug. 22, 1943, at Plum Orchard, she was the daughter of the late Sammie Woods and Monnie Sparks Hall. She also was preceded death by her son, Daniel Smith; a sister, Ida Bell Ransom; and a half-sister, Darlena Bush.

Bonnie attended Gatewood Church of God. She was a self-employed beautician and enjoyed playing bingo.

Surviving: her sisters, Stella A. Bragg and her husband, James, of Oak Hill, Nancy L. Nobblet of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Jeanetta Jean Parsons of Missouri; brothers, Sammie L. Woods Jr. of Missouri and Charles Alex Woods and his wife, Christine, of Millville, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.

Service was Nov. 28 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home Chapel, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Morris Nutter and the Rev. Jackie Pittman officiating. Burial followed in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

John Wesley Wriston

John Wesley Wriston, 77, of Mossy, died Nov. 21, 2005, at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill after a long battle with lung disease.

Born Oct. 27, 1928, at Kingston, he was the son of the late Rev. Howard Ray “H.R.” and Lucille Scott Wriston. He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Ellogene Hawkins Wriston; a son, David Paul Wriston; and brothers, Howard Ray Wriston Jr. and James Scott Wriston.

Mr. Wriston attended Asbury College and Morris Harvey College. He was a Boy Scout leader and active in community service for many years in Pinch, where he resided at the time.

He was employed by Dover Elevator Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1991. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Surviving: his wife of 10 years, Brenda Wright Wriston; former wife, Judy Weatherholt Wriston; sons, Rick Wriston and wife, Anja, of Albuquerque, N.M., John Dale Wriston of Orlando, Fla., and Wesley Wriston of Mossy; daughters, Phala Wriston of Paisely, Fla., and Angela Lilly and husband, Eddie, of Oak Hill; three stepchildren; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, the Rev. Henry C. Wriston of Rock Hill, S.C.; and sisters, Helen Ward of Phoenix, Ariz., Margaret Richman of Grafton and Mary Jane Morris of Pinch. John was greatly loved by many nieces and nephews and a host of friends and extended family.

Mr. Wriston was cremated. There will be no visitation or service at this time.
