Iris Lee Bowen

Iris Lee Bowen, 82, of Montgomery, died Oct. 11, 2012.

She was born Dec. 20, 1929, and was the daughter of the late William and Anna Lee Holland.

Iris was retired from Montgomery General Hospital with 52 years of service as a telephone operator and she was a member of the Montgomery General Hospital Auxiliary.

She was a member of Boomer Baptist Church, Boomer.

Surviving: her sons, Pastor Michael R. “Mick” Bowen and his wife, Bonna, of Knightdale, N.C., William Stephen Bowen and his wife, Margaret, of Mt. Carbon, and Charles David Bowen and his wife, Toni, of Fayetteville; sister-in-law, Ilene Hall of Bomont, Texas; grandchildren, Tara, Tia, Torri, Jodie, Kelli and Megan; great-grandchildren, Emma, Harper, Julian, Landon, Annaleigh, Morrison, Ethan, Mia and Gavin; and caregiver, Connie Higgins of Montgomery.

Service was Oct. 15 at Boomer Baptist Church with Pastor Mick Bowen and Pastor James Neeson officiating. Burial followed at Kanawha Valley Memorial Garden, Glasgow.

Jackie Lee Coleman

Jackie Lee Coleman , 72, of Scarbro, died Oct. 9, 2012, at home.

Born April 2, 1940, at Charleston, he was the son of the late Azel Omer and Lillian Billings Coleman. He was raised by the late Roby and Iva E. Underwood Billings of Pax.

He was a retired coal miner, having worked as a drill operator.

Jackie was a member of the Maple Fork Baptist Church.

Surviving: his wife, Nadine Hale Coleman; son, Donald Coleman of St. Marys; daughters, Lowanna Ellison and husband Mike, and Tammy Mowell and husband Johnny, all of Pax; siblings, Tommy Joe Coleman and wife Alice of Scarbro, June Dunn, Billie Crouse, and Peggy Plumley and husband Charles, all of Beckley, Nancy Kubasek of Oregon, Ohio, Roby Wayne Billings and wife Sheron of Hammond, Ind., Alice Holdren of Whiting, Ind., and Bobby Coleman of Ohio; and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Oct. 12 at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Rev. Jim Bowyer officiating. Mr. Coleman was cremated following the service.
