Virginia ‘Jenny Anne’ Allen

On July 15, 2012, Virginia “Jenny Anne” Allen, 84, left the world where she remembered no one and entered eternity to greet a host of loved ones and friends. Having been afflicted with Alzheimer’s Disease for nearly 15 years, she had made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Jerry Keffer, for the past 10 years. It was there that she died peacefully in a house filled with love.

She was born Jan. 10, 1928, to Benjamin H. and Katie Blizzard Pinson in Minden, the eldest of four daughters. A bright, faithful, hard-working child, she became a creative, caring, industrious, nurturing adult.

She was a beautiful 16-year-old majorette in the Red Devil Marching Band when she fell in love with Arthur “Junior” Allen. They were married when she was 17, and they shared their always apparent love until his death in 2002.

She was also preceded in death by her father and sisters, Rosemary Feazell and Patricia Hinte.

She retired in 1991 as the co-owner with her mother of Katie’s Dress Shop in Oak Hill.

She was a Baptist.

A 1945 graduate of Oak Hill High School, she was a life member of the OHHS Alumni Association to which donations to the scholarship fund may be made in her memory (Box 462, Oak Hill, WV 25901).

Surviving: daughters, Sherry Keffer (Jerry), and Vicki Lagos (Jim), all of Oak Hill, and Sally Hazlett of Winfield; grandchildren, Dr. Scott Keffer (Amanda), Dr. Rachel Lagos, Katie Keffer Hayes (Jim), Mary Lagos, and Jenny Hazlett; great-grandchildren, James, Savannah, Arthur, Sarah, Addison, Jaden, Jackson, Holden, Braxton, and Benjamin; mother, Katie Blizzard Pinson; sister, Suellen Navicki (Larry); brother-in-law, Jack; and her faithful caregivers, Kim, Carol, and Margaret.

Funeral service was July 22 at Saint Andrew’s Church in Oak Hill, conducted by the Rev. Roy Crist, with memories shared by friends and family. Burial was at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
