Lewis Edward ‘Rooster’ Boshell

Lewis Edward “Rooster” Boshell, 82, of Jasper, Ala., formerly of Mount Hope, died June 15, 2012, at Veterans Hospital in Birmingham.

He was preceded in death by his father, Victor A. Boshell; mother, Lucille Tittle Boshell; wife, Carlon Mae Griffin Boshell; and brothers, Buel Wane Boshell and Ardell Boshell.

Known as “King Edward” by his classmates, he was a member of the Mount Hope High Class of 1952.

Surviving: his son, James Boshell; daughters, Sharon Boshell and Carlene Boshell; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Cedrum Grove Baptist Church. Burial was at Boshell Cemetery in Townley with John E. Warren officiating.

Eldridge Edmund Craddock Jr.

Eldridge Edmund Craddock Jr., 86, of Oak, Hill, died July 21, 2012, at his home in Oak Hill.

Born Nov. 16, 1925, at Alcott, he was the son of the late Eldridge Craddock Sr. and Edith Holstein “Sister” Craddock. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Walter, and an uncle, Woody Holstein.

Mr. Craddock served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a staff sergeant.

He was active in the Church of Christ in Okeechobee, Fla., and Prosperity, and during his last years he attended the Oak Hill Church of Christ.

Mr. Craddock was a retired coal miner.

Surviving: his loving wife of 59 years, June L. Cochran Craddock; his children, Sandy Mitchell and her husband, Joe, of Chicago, Ill., Virginia “Jenny” Reece and her husband, Bill, of Oak Hill (with whom he resided), William “Bill” Craddock and his wife, Aida, of Seattle, Wash., James “Jim” Craddock and his wife, Kelly, of Salisbury, N.C.; sisters, Betty Thompson-Johnson of Indiana, and Julia Kay Bowyer and her husband, Howard, of Grandview; grandchildren, Kristi (Christine Ann), whom he had helped rear, Joshua (Josh Keith) and his wife, Jodell, Callie (CB), Mike, and Matt; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Nathan, Noah, Rylee, and Ashwin Edmund; stepgrandchildren, E.J. and his wife, Wendy, Melissa, Christine, Aretta, and Billy Ray; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Tony, Zachary, Blade, Jessica, Sammy, Sharon, and Trinity.

Funeral services were July 24 at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley with Minister Fred Ford officiating. Burial followed at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity.
