Mack Harlan Smith

Mr. Mack Harlan Smith, 82, of Mt. Airy, Md., formerly of Oak Hill, died July 16, 2012, at his home.

Born Nov. 3, 1929, in Oak Hill, he was the son of the late Roby Grant and Gola McLain Smith. A brother, Gerald Steven Smith, also preceded him in death.

He was a retired Montgomery County (Md.) police officer.

Mr. Smith was a 1947 graduate of Oak Hill High School. He was a member of the Lakewood Church of God in Clarksburg, Md., and the Masonic lodge.

Surviving: Ruth K. Nester Smith; children, Mark A. Smith of Germantown, Md., and Teresa Black and husband Roger of Mt. Airy, Md.; sister, Barbara Gail Smith of Oak Hill; sister-in-law, Starlette Nester Smith; and several cousins.

Funeral services were held July 20 at the Lakewood Church of God in Clarksburg, Md., with Pastor Randy Dennis officiating. Interment was in Pine Grove Cemetery, Mt. Airy.

Rose Mary McNeely Smith

Rose Mary McNeely Smith, 54, of Oak Hill, died July 19, 2012, at Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill.

Born Jan. 30, 1958, at Charleston, she was the daughter of Mary Diane Webb McNeely of Oak Hill and the late Rev. Cecil Clyde “CC” McNeely. Besides her father, she also was preceded in death by her brother, Gary McNeely.

Surviving: her mother, Mary McNeely of Oak Hill; brother, Roger McNeely and wife Sandy of Sarasota, Fla.; niece, Melissa McNeely “Bolema” of Sarasota, Fla.; and husband, Tilmon Edward Smith of Oak Hill.

Funeral services were July 23 at the Oak Hill Apostolic Church with Rev. Carlos Lewis officiating. Burial followed at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.
