Larry David Begley
Larry David Begley, known to most as “Sleepy,” died July 31, 2013, after a long illness.
He was son of the late Margaret E.A. Woolwine Begley and George W. Begley. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy L. Cole Begley; brother, John Stone Begley; and sisters, Gertrude Ratliff, Darlene Loving and Shanda Hicks.
Mr. Begley was retired from the Mount Olive Correctional Complex as a mechanic and was formerly employed in the coal industry and was a truck owner/operator.
He was a member of the Bell Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He enjoyed playing and singing gospel music, and sang with the Dixie Trio, The Harold Family and The Harbor Lights.
Surviving: his brothers, Delbert Woolwine and wife Midge and Richard Begley and wife Mary; children; Larry David “Chunk” Begley Jr. and Melinda Denise Begley Pauley and spouse Jay Pauley; mother of Larry and Melinda, Patricia Begley; stepchildren, Emily Wall and spouse Michael Wall and Danny Flores and fiancée Nicolle Garnish; grandchildren, Heather Kay Stone, Megan Nadine Begley, Katie Dawn Begley, Makia Bartch, Kristin Nicole Adkins and husband Austin Adkins, Jordyn Brooke Pauley, Rylee Faith Pauley and James Gage Pauley; stepgrandchildren, Allison Lilly, Shawn Lilly, Ashley Wall and Brett Wall; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services were Aug. 3 at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, with Rev. Lee Holliday and Rev. Richard Harold officiating. Burial followed in Montgomery Memorial Park, London.

Virginia L. Blizzard
Virginia L. Blizzard, 85, of Oak Hill, died Aug. 5, 2013, at Hidden Valley Health Care, Oak Hill, following a short illness.
Born May 24, 1928, in Miller (now called Nallen), she was the daughter of the late Cecil Hefner Miller and Fern Champe Miller. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Ray Blizzard, in 1998.
Virginia was a school teacher for 39 years at Clifftop and Oak Hill schools. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma International Society and earned her Bachelor’s degree from Concord College.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving: a sister, Phyllis M. Kessler of Fayetteville, and a brother, Bill Miller of Nallen.
Services were at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Rainelle, on Aug. 7, with Pastor R. Bloomfield officiating. Burial followed at the Wallace Memorial Cemetery at Clintonville.
