Freddie Gene Hodge
Freddie Gene Hodge, 66, of Hilltop, formerly of Artie, died June 6, 2012, at Hilltop Health Care Center.
Born June 18, 1945, at Artie, he was the son of the late Amber “Dutch” Armstrong and Lulda Hodge Bailey.
Surviving: his daughter, Amy Crabtree of Princeton; his son, Freddie Hodge of Princeton; brother, Harold Hodge of Kentucky; and one grandchild.
Funeral services were June 9 at the Artie Advent Christian Church with Rev. Jerry Tyree officiating. Burial followed in the Hodge Family Cemetery at Artie.

Judith E. Logan Holmes
Judith E. Logan Holmes, 71, of Smithers, died June 3, 2012.
Born Sept. 3, 1940, in Powellton, she was the daughter of the late Alva Roy and Clara Ostrom Logan Sr. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Holmes; son, Michael Holmes; brothers, James, Corky and Pete Logan; and sisters, Carole Peterson and Betty Slayton.
She was a long time member of Oakland Church of God in Smithers and she was retired from the State of West Virginia as an auditor with 32 years of service.
She was a member and former vice president of the Eagles Woman’s Auxiliary in Montgomery.
Surviving: son, William E. Holmes and his fiancee, Tiffannie Homes, of Poca; grandchildren, Brianne Morgan, Crysannia Holmes and Clara Jane Holmes; sisters, Mary Moore and her husband, Gary, and Becky Slayton and her husband, Larry, all of Fayetteville; sister-in-law, Nelda Logan of Smithers; and brother-in-law, Roger Slayton of Fayetteville.
Service was June 7 at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, with Rev. Paul K. Fowler officiating. Burial followed in Montgomery Memorial Park at London.

Clifford Lavinder Jr.
SFC E7 USA (RET) Clifford Lavinder Jr. died Oct. 31, 2011, at his residence in Huachuca City, Ariz. In accordance with his wishes, he was cremated. The immediate family is inviting SFC Lavinder’s classmates, friends and relatives to share in a celebration of life at a committal service for his cremains.
Please join the family Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at 11 a.m., in the chapel at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Oak Hill VFW Post #3110. It would be a comfort to SFC Lavinder’s wife, Norma Eskew Lavinder of Huachuca City; daughter, Logan (John) Wizinsky of Grand Island, Neb.; son, Wayne (Dianna) Lavinder of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; brother, Randall (Barbara) Lookenott of Mansfield, Ohio; and brother, Frederick Joseph Lookenott of Springfield, Ohio, to share memories of this wonderful man who so deeply impacted so many lives.
