Lorena ‘Sis’ Miller Parker Lilly

Lorena “Sis” Miller Parker Lilly, 91, of Beckley, died June 8, 2012.

Born Dec. 5, 1920, in Bentree, she was the daughter of the late Alva and Almida Coleman Miller. She also was preceded in death by her sons, William “Beak” Parker and Michael “Popeye” Parker; brothers, Edward Miller, Jack Miller, Bike Miller; and sisters, Freda Weems and Ocie Walker.

Sis spent many hours volunteering her time at the Beckley Veterans Hospital and the Beckley YMCA.

Sis was a member of the Scrabble Creek Holiness Church in Gauley Bridge.

Surviving: her husband, Lonnie Lilly of Beckley; brother, Bobby Miller and his wife, Beverly, of Gauley Bridge; grandsons, Michael Parker of Charlton Heights, William “Billy” Parker of Oak Hill, and Dwayne Payne of Fayetteville, N.C.; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and she also adopted and raised many children and stepchildren.

Services were June 12 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Beckley, with Rev. James Washington officiating. Burial followed in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Lolitta Jean Jones O’Dell

Lolitta Jean Jones O’Dell, 73, of Hilltop, died June 8, 2012, surrounded by the family that she so deeply loved and who loved her in return.

Born Jan. 22, 1939, in Greenbrier County, she was the daughter of the late Elbert and Mary Jessie Patterson Jones. Jean also was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 51 years, William Henry O’Dell; and a son, Gregory Bryant O’Dell Sr.

Jean was a devoted mother and wife as well as a wonderful homemaker. She traveled with her husband as they shared his music ministry with several local gospel groups.

Jean worked for Ashland Oil for several years and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She found great joy in her great-grandchildren and watching them grow.

Jean was a faithful member of the Maple Fork Baptist Church. She also loved and cherished her church family very much.

Surviving: her sons, Randall O’Dell and his wife, Michele, of Charleston, and Timothy O’Dell of Hilltop; her daughter, Susan Blake of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Stacey, Amy and her husband, Josh, Keri, Kristin, Ashley, Gregory and his wife, Brittney, and Becca and her husband, Justin; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Noah, Laciee, and Liam; sisters, Kitty Morton and her husband, Mark, of Sand Branch, and Gloria O’Dell and her husband, Clifford, of Illinois; brothers, Darrell Jones of Rupert, and Lawrence Jones and his wife, Kathy, and Charles Jones and his wife, Helen, all of Oregon; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of precious friends.

Services were June 12 at Maple Fork Baptist Church, with Rev. Steve Board, Rev. Paul Chapman, and Pastor Jim Bowyer officiating. Burial followed at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity.
