Della Kathleen Bragg

Della Kathleen Bragg of South Carolina died Oct. 11, 2013.

Born Oct. 11, 1934, in Export, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward Jones and Elsie Leona Smith Jones and was called to be with Jesus on her birthday this year. She also was preceded in by death by both a sister, six brothers and her ex-husband, Omer Bragg.

Della was living in South Carolina, with family, but she always considered West Virginia as her home.

Della was instrumental in getting the grandparents rights law passed; she also was very involved in her church and volunteering at local food banks. She will be sadly missed by her family and by everyone who knew her.

Surviving: daughters, Betty Whitt of East Kingston, Ruth Sears of Summersville, Juanita Reynolds of Florence, S.C., and Elsie Whittington of Charleston; son, Joseph Bragg of Allenhurst, Ga.; 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon until time of service at funeral home.

Clarence M. ‘Roe’ Carver

Clarence M. “Roe” Carver, 93, of Edmond, died Oct. 9, 2013, following a long illness.

Clarence was born May 19, 1920, at Edmond, son of the late Aaron and Lillian Carver. He also was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Betty Lou Ritter Carver.

Roe was a coal miner for 30 years plus.

He was the last remaining survivor of his immediate family.

Surviving: his wife of 74 years, Martha J. Carver; daughters, Mary L. Wynes of Arlington, Va., Marcella A. Sine and Alvin of Hardy, Va., and Betty J. Legg and Harold (Buzzy) of Lookout; sons, Randolph M. Carver and Martha R. of Edmond, James E. Carver of Corliss, Larry M. Carver and Pam of Hico and Charles D. Carver and Jeanette of Edmond; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were Oct. 12 at Restlawn Memory Gardens in Victor with Rev. Harold (Buzzy) Legg officiating. Burial followed in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
