Harold Lloyd Cole

Harold Lloyd Cole, 93, of Ansted, died Oct. 9, 2013, in Beckley, following a long illness.

Harold was born March 8, 1920, in Jodie, the son of the late Frank Summers Cole and Leota Ann Skaggs Cole. He also was preceded in death by his siblings, Kathleen Bibb, Hazel McGraw, Lizzie McHenry, Mary Lou Hall, Mabel Sims Wilson, Nellie Eades, Frankie Cole and Sherman Cole.

Mr. Cole worked at Gauley Mountain Coal Co. and was retired from Cannelton Coal Co.

He was a member of the UMWA and a member of Beacon Baptist Church at Ansted.

Surviving: a daughter, Wilma Fox and Allen of Lansing; sons, Harold Franklin Cole and Freda of Verona, Ky., and Tilman E. Cole and Linda of Ansted; a sister, Inez Eades of Ansted; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services were Oct. 12 at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home Chapel, Ansted, with Pastor Clarence Grigsby and Pastor Doug Eades officiating. Burial followed in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor.

F. David Epperson

F. David Epperson, 73, of Oak Hill, died Oct. 11, 2013, following a short illness.

Born May 1, 1940, at Marfrance, he was the son of the late Rex and Geneva Smith Epperson.

Dave was a retired coal miner and master electrician.

Surviving: his wife of 50 years, Ellen Sears Epperson; his daughter, Beth Epperson of Oak Hill; his son, D. Scott Epperson of Beckley; his brother-in-law, Wayne Sears and his wife, Lois, of Hominy Falls; his sisters-in-law and their husbands, Julie and Kenny O’Dell of Simpsonville, S.C., and Norie and Ed Brown of Quinton, Va.; his aunts, Beulah Epperson of Sam Black and Martha Lemons of Greensboro, N.C.; his uncle, Tom and Pat Smith of Indiana; his cousins, Sherry and Jim Gilkerson of Sam Black, Rita and Delmas Beavers of Hines, Rexy and Janice Smith of Virginia and Jerry Joe Epperson of Florida; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Louise Duckworth of Leivasy, Jesse Garcia of Oak Hill, Becky Arthur of Fayetteville and Jessica Holland Stanley of Oak Hill.

Funeral was held Oct. 15 at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Chapel, Rainelle, with Rev. Mark Wood officiating. Entombment followed at Wallace Memorial Mausoleum in Clintonville.
