Charles Dale Colbird

Charles Dale Colbird, 30, of Fayetteville, died April 22, 2012, at his home.

Born July 31, 1981, at Morehead, Ky., he was the son of Mae Jones of West Liberty, Ky., and the late Timothy Colbird.

Charles was a correctional officer for Mount Olive Correctional Facility.

He attended the Beckley Nazarene Church.

Surviving, in addition to his mother: his wife, Katina Fay Perkins Colbird; daughter, Alexis Nichole Colbird of Princeton; stepsons, Clifford Lee Wriston Jr., Preston James Wriston and Caleb Andrew Wriston, all of Fayetteville; brothers, Dean Colbird and wife Darlene, and Jonathan Colbird, all of Princeton; and a nephew, Zachary Colbird of Princeton.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 26, at 2 p.m. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. James Perkins and Rev. Richard Wagoner officiating. Burial will be at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

Ruth Marie Meadows Sharpe Daniels

Ruth Marie Meadows Sharpe Daniels, 85, of Oak Hill, died April 17, 2012, at Hidden Valley Nursing Home.

Mrs. Daniels was born Nov. 17, 1926, at Traylee, the daughter of the late Berman E. Meadows Sr. and the late Ollie Gilkerson Meadows Jones. Mrs. Daniels also was preceded in death on March 4, 2012, by her husband, Clifton “Cliff” West Daniels; by her first husband, Robert B. Sharpe; brothers, Bobby Ray Meadows and B.E. Meadows; sister, Norma Jane Tygrett; and a niece, Sharon Jane Tygrett.

Mrs. Daniels attended Calvary Baptist Church.

She attended Oak Hill High School, and was a graduate of Charles Beauty School at Newport News, Va. She retired from Adora Beauty Salon, and was a bookkeeper for her husband’s firm, Robert B. Sharpe Construction Company, for several years.

Mrs. Daniels had a wonderful talent for working with stained glass and made many beautiful lamps as well as other items which she gave to her family and friends.

She was also gifted with knitting and crocheting. She made several beautiful afghans as gifts for her family.

Surviving: her son, Robert Baxter Sharpe Jr. of Newport News, and his two children, Robert B. Sharpe III and Robert-Adam Baxter Sharpe; stepdaughter, Donna Waldmiller and her husband, Dave, of Smithfield, Va.;  stepson, Dexter Daniels and his wife, Linda, and their three children and her great-granddaughter of Boise, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was April 21 at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, with Pastor Mark Wood officiating. Entombment followed in High Lawn Memorial Park.
